All nine vocation classes in Dragon's Dogma 2 have NPC Maisters you can meet in various locations and act as teachers for the ultimate abilities associated with each archetype. These masters of their craft can give you powerful scrolls to learn each technique, but only if you complete different tasks for them. The only way to master a vocation is with the assistance of Maisters you find in the world.
Only four vocations are available from the start of the game - the Fighter, Thief, Mage, and Archer. Keep in mind that you have to unlock Advanced Vocations like the Warrior and Mystic Spearhand in Dragon's Dogma 2 before you can get the ultimate abilities for each. Certain Maisters won't offer anything to do unless you have taken the steps to gain these archetypes from your other adventures.

The first Thief Maister you meet, Flaude, is a fraud and not the real master of the Thief vocation. However, this character still teaches you an ability, even though the skill is more harmful to your character than it is to your enemies.
According to a video by YouTube creator RageGamingVideos, the Mage and Sorcerer Maisters should be pursued together since they are found in the same location. While there is no exact order that you need to follow for each class, try to focus on the ones whose ultimate abilities you want to learn the most in Dragon's Dogma 2.
When a vocation has multiple Maisters, it means that there is more than one ultimate ability for that class that your Arisen character can learn. Try to search for these people as you reach their locations so you don't miss them later on. Characters such as Lennart in Dragon's Dogma 2 can be skipped if you don't interact with them by the time you reach a certain point in the main story quests.
