Armor is an important factor in Dragon’s Dogma 2; there is no one overall best set, but instead, there are ones that suit each vocation. This is because some want high defense, while others would prefer the nimbleness that comes from a low weight.
Keep in mind that you can only really customize the Arisen and your main Pawn in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Giving items to hired Pawns will permanently them along to the corresponding host - effectively destroying them in your inventory. It is best to keep rehiring your two remaining Pawns, ensuring Pawns have a strong vocation with good armor.

One Hidden Dragon's Dogma 2 Mechanic Makes Missions Much Easier To Do
A hidden mechanic in Dragon’s Dogma 2 makes it easier to complete certain quests with a Pawn’s help. Here’s how to make use of a Pawn’s knowledge.
How Height and Weight Factors
When a character is created, either your Arisen or main Pawn, you can customize their physical attributes in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This includes making them tall, short, thin, or stocky. Weight and height differences affect base movement speed, stamina regeneration, climbing, and carrying capacity. So, even if a suit of armor is great for a Warrior's vocation, it could still be an ill-fit if said Warrior is too small.
It is much easier to give a character a different vocation instead of rebuilding them entirely. For example, an ill-suited Mage might be the perfect size for a more tactical Trickster. Maximizing these parameters is key to fighting large monsters like Golems in DD2.

Even with powerful gear, you may want to search for other loot in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Certain enemies have attacks you won’t receive protection against, like petrification. New Game Plus mode is an excellent means of getting different armor or multiple copies of your ideal gear.
