One of the many quests you can unlock in Dragon's Dogma 2 is "Readvent of Calamity," a mission you can complete by defeating a powerful enemy and tracking down a notable NPC. Some of the goals for this quest are time-sensitive and hard to figure out through the game's vague instructions. Despite the obstacles, you can earn great rewards for pursuing this mission to its conclusion.

Before you can unlock this quest, you first have to finish at least one mission given by Captain Brant, a character you meet in the settlement of Melve. Unlike areas such as the Nameless Village in Dragon's Dogma 2, Melve is a place you become familiar with toward the start of your adventure. Other people in this town will likely end up playing a big part in the mission.

Starting This Dragon's Dogma 2 Quest Before You're Ready Could Ruin Your Entire Game

The point of no return comes pretty abruptly in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Here’s how to prepare for it, and everything players can expect to come after.

How To Unlock The "Readvent of Calmity" Quest

Return To Melve When A Dragon Attacks

Dragon's Dogma 2 Defending the town of Melve from a diseased drake in "Readvent of Calamity" quest.

All you need to do to unlock the "Readvent of Calamity" quest is to return to Melve after completing a quest given by Captain Brant, where you will see the town under siege by a dragon. Notably, this isn't the Red Dragon in Dragon's Dogma 2, but rather a diseased drake. This weaker enemy can still cause a lot of damage, so you have to defeat the creature before it destroys the settlement.

Make sure your party is well-rested and ready to fight ahead of time by planning which Captain Brant mission you tackle. For example, you have to finish "Seat of the Sovran" to make this mission appear, but you could always do a simple Oxcart escort quest that won't tire out your Pawn allies. Head into town and fight with local warriors when you're ready to injure the weakened drake and drive it away.

How To Complete The "Readvent of Calamity" Quest

Find Out Where Ulrika Is Going

Dragon's Dogma 2 finding the NPC Ulrika in Harve Village roads during "Readvent of Calamity" quest

You can't complete the "Readvent of Calamity" quest without visiting the character Ulrika in Melve from time to time, and then talking to her as she reappears somewhere else. After the drake takes off, you can start a cutscene with Ulrika and the Warrior vocation Maister Lennart in Dragon's Dogma 2. From here, your next task will be to check in with Ulrika in her large house in Melve occasionally between missions.

Maisters are teachers of different vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2 who you can find in various locations to learn the ultimate ability of your class.

Wait a few days before visiting Ulrika until you see her arguing with the government official, Martin, in her home. The day after this encounter occurs, Ulrika will leave Melve, leaving you to track down where she went in Dragon's Dogma 2. You can find Ulrika in Harve Village, a location near the coast to the southwest of Melve that you can reach either by Oxcart or along the Vernworth region's many roads.

Even when you travel by Oxcart, you still have to be prepared for any number of creatures attacking your party. Try to set up a reusable Portcrystal in Harve Village if you can, so you may teleport there instantly for this quest.

Ulrika won't show up in Harve Village until you complete Captain Brant's "Monster Culling" quest, which should be easy enough to finish. Wait a few days in the Village to eventually cause Ulrika to appear on the main road near the settlement in Dragon's Dogma 2. Talking to her will reveal why she left and take you to the final step of the mission, where you need to return to Lennart in Melve to report your findings.

You can find Lennart inside the biggest house in Melve and tell him about the exchange you had with Ulrika. Doing this will complete the "Readvent of Calamity" quest in Dragon's Dogma 2, earning you not just the Warrior vocation from Lennart but 4,500 Gold and a Ring of Grit that reduces how much stamina it takes to block with a shield.
