Griffins in Dragon's Dogma 2 are rare, formidable enemies that can provide plentiful experience points when killed. They can be found regularly in a few spots throughout the map, but they may also swoop down on the player while riding an ox cart. Players must use their most potent arsenal to kill the griffin before it can flee—unless players ride back to their nests, too.
Griffins hit very hard, so players and their pawns must have their best weaponry and Vocation-specific armor. Have your pawns draw aggro from the griffin while you target its weak points. Most importantly, they come equipped with explosive spells and weapon skills to deal massive damage.

All Griffin Locations In Dragon's Dogma 2
Griffins Can Be Found in 5 Spots
While griffins tend to roam around the map randomly, there is a select number of spots where a griffin attack can be triggered. If they flee after the attack, though, there is no guarantee they will respawn at the same location, so kill them quickly. The currently identified Griffin locations are as follows:

This location is special, as it is the nest of the Forested Griffin. Players can access this part of the Misty Marshes by riding the injured Griffin and fleeing back to the nest. |
Use Oxen Carts To Bait Griffins
Oxen are the Griffins' prey in Dragon's Dogma 2, so outside of preset locations, anywhere with a high ox density may cause a random Griffin attack. Namely, this includes ox ranches within or near towns, which a griffin can attack even while the player is in city bounds. This also applies to ox cart rides, as griffins can rarely swoop down and destroy the cart, suddenly thrusting your pawns into battle.
How To Beat Griffins In Dragon's Dogma 2
Griffins are formidable foes, with high health, monstrously damaging attacks, and a tendency to run away when injured enough. The key to killing a griffin is unloading as many high-power strikes into its head, wings, and spine as possible. When the Griffin attempts to flee by hovering without attacking for a few seconds, hit it with high knockback attacks, like a Powder Charge, to bring it down.
Use Fire Attacks
A Griffin's biggest weakness in Dragon's Dogma 2 is fire, so use any flame-based spells or melee attacks you have. Explosive spells are perfect for this, especially High Flagration, as they unleash a steady, powerful stream of fire against enemies. Target these flame attacks at griffins' weak spots, like their head and wings, to quickly roast their health bars while your pawns deal bonus damage.
Ride Griffins To Weaken Them
By jumping off terrain, you can also jump onto the griffin's back and ride it. This is an excellent opportunity to injure its wings with fire-enhanced weapon strikes to significantly hamper its ability to flee. Alternatively, players can ride fleeing griffins back to their nests and finish them off there. These nests tend to have rare items, like Dragon's Dogma 2's elusive Portcrystal in the Forested Griffin's nest.
