It's possible to keep playing Dragon's Dogma 2 after beating it, albeit in a strictly limited way. However, if the player progresses too far in the main story, they'll lock themselves out of many side quests, along with a great deal of endgame content. Dragon's Dogma 2 doesn't warn the player when the point of no return is approaching. As a result, it's important to know where the game's ending lies, and what events might trigger it.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Review: "A Wonderful Journey, & A True Novelty"
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is guaranteed to take you on a memorable and immersive adventure, but it’s liable to include a few hiccups along the way.
Where Is The Point Of No Return In Dragon's Dogma 2?
"A New Godsway" Is The Beginning Of The End
The point of no return in Dragon's Dogma 2 is the end of the quest "A New Godsway," after which players are locked into the ending. Specifically, the final quest step reads, "Give the wyrmslife crystals you have gathered to Ambrosius." This quest immediately follows the story quest "Convergence," so players should know by that point they're nearing the end. It involves traveling to the Forbidden Magick Research Lab in Bakbattahl, and turning in a number of collectibles to the NPC in question.
There's no pop-up window to explain that this is the point of no return, nor will players have an opportunity to go back. Since Dragon's Dogma 2 discourages save scumming by preventing players from loading previous files, players run the risk of being locked into the ending of Dragon's Dogma 2. The only saving grace is if they have a recent save and realize they've ed the point of no return immediately. Otherwise, the next time their save file is overwritten, they'll have no recourse to return.
As soon as "A New Godsway" is completed, certain regions of the map will become inaccessible. Most of the side quests a player still has open will instantly fail. Some may stay open, but not for long. Ambrosius will then send the Arisen away, asking them to come back the following day. Thus begins what is functionally the second-last mandatory quest in Dragon's Dogma 2. The player has a brief opportunity to wrap up a few side quests while Ambrosius finishes his research, but it'll already be too late for some of them.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Player Discovers Secret To Unlocking New Areas
A Dragon's Dogma 2 player sets the game's community on fire by sharing their discovery on how to unlock secret locations in the open world.
Once the Arisen returns to the Lab, they'll be given the Empowered Godsbane Blade. The next quest will begin immediately, with a cutscene showing Phaeseus ing through the Flamebearer Palace Spellseal Door. However, this quest, "The Guardian Gigantus," is actually optional. It's also the last time-limited quest in Dragon's Dogma 2. A gargantuan, statuesque boss - the guardian Gigantus himself - will rise from the sea and begin advancing on the Volcanic Island. Players have a limited time to take Gigantus down, and if they fail to reach him before he gets to Moonglint Tower, the guards will kill him in a hail of arrows.
It's not the end of the world, though - at least not yet. Even if the Arisen fails to kill Gigantus, they'll be able to proceed with the following and final quest, "Legacy." Skipping the Gigantus boss fight alone won't affect what endings are available to the player, nor will it change what endgame content they get. All they'll miss out on is the XP provided by beating the boss, and the literal experience of an epic confrontation with a giant stone construct. However, as soon as the Gigantus is felled, the player will be stuck in the endgame, and may be locked out of whatever content they failed to finish prior.
Everything To Do Before Endgame In Dragon's Dogma 2
"A New Godsway" is the last chance to do most activities in Dragon's Dogma 2, so players must undertake as many tasks as possible before finishing this quest. In general, players should ensure they've finished everything on the following checklist before entering the final chapters. Naturally, these aren't all mandatory (except the last one). If a player is already satisfied with their DD2 experience, they can go ahead and turn in "A New Godsway." But as for those who want to 100% the game, or just to experience as much of it as possible, they should:
- Finish all open side quests.
- Explore any incomplete map regions.
- Level up the Arisen and their Main Pawn, and buy the best equipment possible for both of them.
- Collect at least 15 wyrmslife crystals.
Finishing all open quests should be the most straightforward task, but can also be the most time-consuming, depending on how many the player has left unfinished. Exploring incomplete map regions can be a little more complicated. Players should make sure they're not only clearing all the fog of war from the in-game map, but also talking to unfamiliar NPCs to ensure they haven't missed any side quests. In particular, most of the Volcanic Island region becomes unavailable after "A New Godsway," so players should fully explore it and complete everything there before proceeding.

It's also important to ensure that the Arisen and their Main Pawn are powerful enough to take on the game's final bosses. The Arisen and their Main Pawn should both be about level 40 to comfortably beat the final boss of Dragon's Dogma 2. Ensure that both characters also have the best possible weapons and armor for their respective classes equipped. Don't worry about Hired Pawns - while they'll stick around a little longer, they won't participate in the final battles.
The level cap in Dragon's Dogma 2 is 999, but it's certainly not necessary to reach the maximum level to beat the final boss.
Wyrmslife crystals are a little different. "A New Godsway" requires players to collect at least 15 to finish the quest and move onto the ending. These 15 will automatically be spent on an item used to unlock the true ending of Dragon's Dogma 2. Any remaining crystals can be given to Ambrosius in exchange for high-level equipment, which will surely be useful in the battles. Wyrmslife crystals are obtained by defeating dragon-like enemies throughout Vermund and Bakbattahl. In fact, players can get ten of them just for beating the Lesser Drake as part of this quest.
But with all of the above (or as much of it as a player cares to do) completed, it's perfectly safe to forge ahead with "A New Godsway" and hurtle toward the endgame. Just , there's no warning, and there's no going back, so it's a good idea to the final quest's name and the objectives involved. Doing so can prevent players from missing out on tons of content, and potentially save a playthrough of Dragon's Dogma 2.
