Dragon's Dogma 2 is a massive RPG released this year by CAPCOM, and it has plenty of secrets and treasures to be hidden. While the game's main questline will send the player running across most of the map, there are still many things that are easily missable. While some of these secrets are just flavor, many of the pieces of hidden content across the kingdoms of Vermund and Battahl are engaging and interesting boss battles, treasures, and regions to explore.

Dragon's Dogma 2 has over 70 quests and side quests to complete, with many of them being easy to miss or requiring more than one playthrough to complete. While players will still enjoy the game without scouring the map for everything they might miss, there are a few things that players who are looking to get the most out of their playthrough won't want to miss.

Dragon's Dogma tells the player very little about its many, many mechanics and some could remain hidden, even after a complete playthrough.

10 Discover the Sphinx

Reap Your Rewards

The Sphinx is a dual-pronged piece of the Dragon's Dogma 2 world. On one hand, this mysterious creature offers you and your party a total of 10 riddles to solve, each one leading to richer prizes in exchange for your correct answer. After its gauntlet of wordplay and trickery lies an even tougher encounter; a battle with the Sphinx itself.

The Sphinx is a formidable foe, wielding both magic and claws, and players will have their work cut out for them in defeating it before it flies off. This boss fight, as shown in Boss Fight Database's video on YouTube, isn't too bad if you know what to look out for.

Upon defeating this ferocious feathered foe, you'll receive a bounty of rewards, including an Eternal Wakestone, which allows you to revive multiple NPCs at once.

9 Explore the Agamen Volcanic Islands

Shops & Side Quests

A screenshot of the Dragon's Dogma 2 map, showing Drabnir's Grotto

Head to the Islands by following the road leading out of the southern exit of Bakbattahl using the Godsbane obtained from the "A New Godsway" questline. This southern exit of Bakbattahl is the normal route you can take to find the Agamen Volcanic Island, but if you're impatient to unlock the Magick Archer class, you can head this direction a little early by heading through Drabnir's Grotto and then following the road northeast.

Be aware that this route is much more difficult, but is the only way to arrive at the Agamen Islands before the main quest brings you there.

Fighting your way through Drabnir's Grotto will be difficult at a lower level, but determined players will prevail. On the other side lie the Agamen Volcanic Islands and their residents. Some residents, like Lamond, Gautstafr, Menella, and Raghnall all hold sidequests for players to conquer, while another runs an armory that provides all manners of armor and accessories. No matter what part of the Islands players explore, they're well worth investigating before the endgame.

8 Unlock Every Vocation

Six Unlockable Classes

The four classes available to players at the beginning of Dragon's Dogma 2 include Fighter, Archer, Mage, and Thief. Players wishing to diversify their playstyle a bit will have to unlock the remaining six classes, which are all unlocked through various sidequests across the game. Each unlockable class/vocation, along with its quest and location, is as follows:

Class/Vocation

Location

Sidequest Name

Warrior

Vernworth Vocation Guild

"Vocation Frustration"

Sorcerer

Vernworth Vocation Guild

"Vocation Frustration," progress through main quest "Feast of Deception"

Mystic Spearhand*

Begin the sidequest in Melve, where a dragon will be attacking.

"Readvent of Calamity," progress through main quest "A New Godsway"

"Put a Spring in Thy Step"

Trickster*

"The Sotted Sage"

Many of the unlockable classes are exclusive to Arisen; they've been marked by an asterisk. No matter what Vocation you choose, it will determine your playstyle and the balance of your party, so having the option of all the classes available to you will increase your versatility as well as give you the ability to change up your gameplay.

Explore the world and complete the sidequests to have access to the full scope of character-building in Dragon's Dogma 2.

7 Visit the Elves

Find The Haven of the Elves

Sacred Arbor, the elven village in Dragon's Dogma 2, is a bit trickier to find than other villages. To find it, change to the Archer class and make sure you have a pawn with the Woodland Wordsmith specialization. Then, go to the market in Vernworth to talk to the elf Glyndwyr by the weapons shop, who will ask you for a human-made bow.

Train with him as he requests, then let a day . Glyndwyr will return to the weapons shop and ask you to attend a trial with him. Return to the area where you trained with him earlier, and the two of you will follow the road towards the Elves Sacred Arbor.

When you arrive, you'll be asked to help Glyndwyr find his sister. Rescue Doireann and defeat the Ogre, then enjoy your welcome in the Sacred Arbor! There are a few more things to do here, including two quests to complete and the Archer-Maister's tome to earn, which Ninja Pups shows in the YouTube video above.

6 Fight a Medusa

Secret Boss

Medusa can be found south of Bakbattahl, in a cave called Calignious Depths in the desert region of the area. By completing certain objectives during its fight, players can earn three trophies: the "Off with Its Head!" trophy for cutting off her head, "Getting a Head" for obtaining her Preserved Head, and "Eye for an Eye" for petrifying her using her own head. Not only are these achievements only available through this fight, but the fight itself, explained above by Dan Allen Gaming on YouTube, is pretty fun.

The most obvious thing players should watch out for when fighting Medusa is her petrifying gaze, which will turn you to stone if you stay in it for too long. She also uses her primary weapon, a bow and arrow, to hurl magical and non-magical attacks at players. Look to climb on her back and attack her head often to keep her attacks at bay.

Players with the Thief class and who have the lightning boon effect will have an easier time obtaining her Preserved Head, so if this is something you're interested in, make sure to change your class before heading out.

4 Collect Golden Trove Beetles

Hold More Stuff

Golden Trove Beetles are the main collectibles of Dragon's Dogma 2, alongside Seeker's Tokens. The inventory in this game is limited by your carrying capacity, and you can spend your Beetles in the menu to increase your weight limit by 0.15 kg per Beetle. This isn't an issue in the early game, but later in the game, and as you collect more stuff, having that extra space can be the difference between being able to heal and death.

LukeCanWin on YouTube shows the locations of 81 Golden Trove Beetles, which are scattered across the entirety of the map. They're easier to find at night or in darker places, as they glow in the dark, but they're not impossible to find in the light if you're determined enough.

Whether you're a weaker character who wants to up your carrying capacity, or just your party's pack mule, these Beetles are super helpful in helping you carry more.

3 Find the Jadeite Orb

Help Offulve Find The Stone

A screenshot of Dragon's Dogma 2 player being asked if they want to create a forgery of the Jadeite Orb

This quest is one of many side quests DD2 has to offer, and its rewards are just as helpful as any others. However, what makes this quest unique and worth playing is the complications that arise as you complete it. On your journey to help Offulve, you'll meet Everard, his master, who confides in you that he suspects Offulve's motives and involvement in the lost orb. Both parties ask you for help in locating the Jadeite Orb, and you'll have a choice later on as to who you give it to.

This quest presents the player with an interesting choice; do you help Offulve or Everard? By playing through the "Hunt for the Jadeite Orb" quest, you'll have opportunities to find out more about the situation, but in the end, you'll need to make a decision. Complete this quest and make a mark on the lives of the people in Dragon's Dogma 2 before you face the final fight.

2 Face a Wight

A Necromantic Foe

The Wight is another hidden miniboss in DD2, and can be found in the Waterfall Cave involved in the "Spellbound" and "The Sorcerer's Appraisal" questlines, as shown by FP Good Game on YouTube. Wights are formidable in that they have many different types of attacks and attack patterns, which makes fighting them to be quite an ordeal if you're unprepared.

Be on the lookout for AoE magic like lightning, as well as a close-up burst that triggers when you enter melee range.

Another unique thing to be aware of when fighting Wights is that they can summon skeleton minions to do their fighting for them. While the skeletons aren't super strong, they are annoying if you don't deal with them quickly. Following these tips to fight Wights and more will help you get a handle on fighting these unique minibosses.

1 Visit this Special Vendor

Upgrade Your Skills & Weapons

Screenshot of the Bay Wayside Shrine vendor's Blessings menu

Northeast of the desert area you discover in the midgame, there is a shrine called the Bay Wayside Shrine. This shrine houses the vendor that accepts the red crystals you find around the world. He sells the typical equipment and armor, but will also allow you to upgrade your unlocked skills for a price. He will also Bless players in exchange for crystals.

One upgrade he provides reduces the stamina needed to execute a skill or spell of your choice. You can only apply this one skill or spell at a time, so choose wisely. Alongside these upgrades, the vendor also sells some of the best items in Dragon's Dogma 2. Making sure you take your time in exploring this game will help you be fully prepared to face the dragon at the end.
