- Finding the grimoires for Trysha will lead to rewards, but players must subdue her rampage to continue the quest for maister skills.
- To maximize rewards in Dragon's Dogma 2, players can split grimoires between Trysha and Myrddin using forgeries.
The Dragon's Dogma 2 quest "Spellbound" is far more complicated than it seems on the surface. It begins when the Arisen encounters a girl named Trysha in an isolated cabin, standing alone on a hill northwest of Melve. Trysha lives with her grandmother, Eini, who spends most of her day providing for the two of them. This leaves Trysha alone and bored out of her mind. To kill time, Trysha's recently decided to study magic. If they speak with her while grandma's out, Trysha asks the Arisen to find the grimoires she'll need to learn her first few spells.
But Eini doesn't want her granddaughter learning magic: she's far too young. If the Arisen talks to her, she'll strongly caution them against helping Trysha. Of course, the player is free to do as they choose - but as with most quests in Dragon's Dogma 2, there's a consequence for every decision. Depending on the player's choices, "Spellbound" may even be further complicated, as several other characters may become involved later in the game. With a little planning and a lot of gold, though, players can plan ahead and ensure the best outcome for Trysha, Eini, and the Arisen all.

What Happens If Players Find The Grimoires For Trysha In Dragon's Dogma 2
All "Spellbound" Grimoire Locations & Consequences In DD2
Trysha's wishlist includes five grimoires, located in various places all throughout Dragon's Dogma 2's map. Some grimoires exist in multiple copies, but others are unique. This quest takes players to many different areas, some of which they may not have discovered by the time they first meet Trysha. Players can find the grimoires in each of the following locations:
Grimoire Name |
Location(s) |
---|---|
Can be purchased from the merchant Dudley at the entrance to Melve for 5,000 G |
|
Given by Waldhar in the Vernworth Dungeon |
|
Stolen from Myrddin's house in Checkpoint Rest Town; use the balcony to get inside unseen |
|
Inside a chest in the Waterfall Cave, or traded for a copy of Fulminous Shield with Wendy in the Nameless Village |
|
Inside a chest in the Waterfall Cave, or in the Cenotaph |
Trysha will accept partial delivery, so three grimoires are enough to complete this quest with the full rewards.
Once they find the grimoires, players can bring them back to Trysha. They'll receive a Turquoise Ring, and their quest objective will instruct them to some time. A day later, Trysha will go on a rampage, wildly casting spells and destroying everything in her path. The Arisen will need to stop her, but killing Trysha will end the quest immediately. Instead, they should approach her and press the "Grab" button (the right trigger on a controller, or E on a keyboard), to subdue her. Eini will be grateful, and ask the Arisen to return the next day.
If Trysha does die during this scene, she can be resurrected with a Wakestone.
When they return, Eini will greet the Arisen and thank them again, while Trysha will announce she's gained better control over her magic. Eini gives them the Enchanter's Almanac, and Trysha gives them Conjurer's Jottings. Each of these items can be used to learn a maister skill, effectively a capstone ability for one of the player character classes in Dragon's Dogma 2. The Enchanter's Almanac teaches Mages the healing spell Celestial Paean, and the Conjurer's Jottings teaches Sorcerers the damage spell Meteoron. Once used, these items allow both the Arisen and their Main Pawn to learn the related skill.

One Hidden Dragon's Dogma 2 Mechanic Makes Missions Much Easier To Do
A hidden mechanic in Dragon’s Dogma 2 makes it easier to complete certain quests with a Pawn’s help. Here’s how to make use of a Pawn’s knowledge.
In short, there are few negative consequences of giving the grimoires to Trysha - as long as the player rescues her and Eini in time. Failing to return may result in either or both of their deaths, which immediately fails the "Spellbound" quest. There's a campsite just northwest of Eini's house, so it's a good idea to rest there and check back immediately after handing in the grimoires. However, the player may miss out on another maister skill if they give all the grimoires to Trysha as soon as they find them. For the best possible outcome, they'll need to accept another quest first.
What Happens If Players Find The Grimoires For Myrddin In Dragon's Dogma 2
DD2's "The Sorcerer's Appraisal" Quest, Explained
Trysha's request to find the grimoires is complicated when the Arisen sets foot in Checkpoint Rest Town, a small border settlement between Vermund and Battahl. There, they may be hailed by Myrddin, an accomplished grimoire collector. As it turns out, Myrddin is actually Trysha's father, and he wants the exact same set of grimoires as his daughter. If the Arisen has already completed "Spellbound" and learned Meteoron by the time they find the grimoires for Myrddin, he may also ask them to prove their friendship with Trysha. They can do this by speaking to him while wearing the Turquoise Ring.
Myrddin will only acknowledge the Arisen if they're wearing the Courtly Clothes - the masquerade outfit in Dragon's Dogma 2.
Should the Arisen find the grimoires for Myrddin instead, they'll gain an Ares Morpho Robe, 11,000 G, and Myrddin's Chronicle. Using the latter allows them to learn a different Sorcerer maister skill: the damage spell Maelstrom.
Maelstrom is largely similar to Meteoron. Both are high-damage area-of-effect spells for Sorcerers, so the only real differences between the two are their names and animations. If the player decides they want to give all five tomes to either NPC, Trysha is a better choice, since doing so provides two skills instead of one. However, there's a way to finish both quests and receive all three maister skills - although it won't be cheap.

Players Should Split Grimoires Between Trysha & Myrddin In Dragon's Dogma 2
How To Get The Best Outcome For "Spellbound" & "The Sorcerer's Appraisal" With Forgeries
Here's the catch: Myrddin just wants the grimoires to complete a set, while Trysha wants them to learn magic. As a result, Myrddin is more likely to accept forgeries than Trysha, especially when turning in multiple books at once. And a shop near his house in Checkpoint Rest Town is willing to help. Ibrahim's Scrap Shop will make a forgery of almost any item in the game for the right price. Each forgery costs 6,000 G, and takes one day to make. It's a lot of money to spend in Dragon's Dogma 2, but the rewards are worth it.
So, the best way to complete both "Spellbound" and "The Sorcerer's Appraisal" is to find at least three grimoires, pay for Ibrahim to duplicate all three, give the genuine artifacts to Trysha, and give the fakes to Myrddin. This will be enough for the player to learn all three maister skills, and enjoy all the other material rewards that come along with them. Of course, if the player finds any additional grimoires while they're working on these quests, they can sprinkle in a couple of real ones alongside Myrddin's fakes to improve their chances.
It's not easy, but finding the grimoires and paying the extra gold for forgeries is the best choice. Of course, each grimoire can also be used as a consumable to cast a unique spell one time each, but that would be an enormous waste. The maister skills are much more useful in the long run, even if they take a lot more work to come by. Having one or two of them is better than having none, but having all three leaves the most options open in Dragon's Dogma 2.
The Sequel to Dragon's Dogma and its expansion, Dark Arisen, Dragon's Dogma 2 is an action-adventure RPG game from the developers at Capcom. Players will create their protagonist, the "Arisen," as they embark on a journey to slay a Dragon that threatens the world. ed by otherworldly beings known as Pawns, the Arisen will utilize melee weapons and spells as they battle against various types of foes.
