Drive-Away Dolls gets a new trailer, teasing what's to come from Ethan Coen's crime comedy film. After making films with his brother, Joel, for the better part of four decades, Drive-Away Dolls marks Ethan's first major narrative feature film foray on his own. The movie, which features a star-studded cast, follows two women as they embark on a road trip and become entangled in the scheme of a group of inept criminals.
Ahead of the Drive-Away Dolls release date, Focus Features shares a new trailer for the movie, teasing the its darkly comedic tone and story. Check out the trailer below:
Somewhat surprisingly, the trailer also teases that Pedro Pascal's character gets decapitated at some point during the runtime, speaking to the classic Coen Brothers' feel that audiences can expect from the movie.

Coen Brothers: Their 5 Funniest Movies (& Their 5 Darkest)
Many Coen Brother films are dark comedies. Here are their funniest films, and the ones with the darkest themes.
What To Expect From Drive-Away Dolls
Coen Brothers movies typically feature a degree of dark comedy, and Drive-Away Dolls certainly looks to be continuing this trend. Many Coen Brothers' films also explore crimes that go wrong and, again, the film is returning to this tried and true territory. What isn't yet clear, however, is how this familiar and iconic Coen tone will be affected by the absence of Joel.
Joel Coen also recently made a movie on his own with 2021's The Tragedy of Macbeth.
Described as a lesbian road-trip comedy, Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Vaswanathan lead the Drive-Away Dolls cast, with the two actors starring as Jamie and Marian, two young women who find themselves in posession of a valuable briefcase. Pascal also appears in the film as The Collector, though it doesn't appear that this will be a major role, at least judging from the trailer. In addition, Matt Damon stars as Senator Gary Channel, with Colman Domingo playing The Chief and Beanie Feldstein as Sukie, a Philadelphia police officer.
Drive-Away Dolls is rated R, continuing another trend for the director. The film earned the rating for "crude sexual content, full nudity, language and some violent content," affirming that this is definitely a comedy aimed at adult audiences. It remains to be seen how Drive-Away Dolls will be received by audiences, but it seemingly won't mark the start of a new solo era for Ethan, as the Coens are confirmed to be reuniting for a horror movie in the near future.
