Who Is Anya Taylor-Joy Playing In Dune: Part Two?

Anya Taylor-Joy in The Menu with wine

Though her role has not officially been revealed, Taylor-Joy is likely playing Alia Atreides in Dune: Part Two. In Frank Herbert's novel, Alia is Paul's younger sister, the daughter of Duke Leto Atreides and Lady Jessica, who was born on Arrakis eight months after her father's death. Because her mother consumed the Water of Life while she was in the womb, Alia was pre-born, meaning she is fully aware before birth and already has a developed personality.

Alia was portrayed by Alicia Witt in David Lynch's Dune, Laura Burton in Frank Herbert's Dune, and Daniela Amavia in Frank Herbert's Children of Dune.

With the ability to access ancestral memories, Alia is also highly susceptible to Abomination, being overpowered by a memory and potentially going insane. Though she is expected to have a major role, exactly how Alia is adapted in the sequel has been highly secretive. The only information known about her is a brief character description as "an embryo who advises her mother from the womb," which doesn't even mention Alia by name, and now, that Taylor-Joy will likely be playing her.
