Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Dune: Prophecy season 1, episode 6!ending of Dune: Prophecy sees Valya (Emily Watson) rescue Ynez (Sarah-Sofie Boussnina) and Keiran (Chris Mason) from imprisonment, managing to escape the planet despite pursuit from Desmond Hart (Travis Fimmel). At the very end of the episode, the trio arrive on Arrakis, which has had a major impact on the story due to the dream of the sandworm the Sisterhood has been having throughout the show.
Speaking with TVLine, Schapker explained how the pull of Arrakis was important for Dune: Prophecy season 1, but that season 2 will further explore its importance to the overall narrative. This includes Valya trying to gather more information about Desmond's claim that he survived getting eaten by a sandworm. It also involves investigating who really implanted thinking machines in his eyes, giving him his powers. Check out what Schapker had to say below:
Arrakis [has been] exerting its pull from afar, whether in the economics of spice trade, or the psychological aspects of these visions [from] Desmond’s past seeping into everyone’s consciousness.
It’s very significant that Valya’s there. [Desmond] emerged with a story and a myth — ‘I’m from Arrakis, I was swallowed by a worm and I survived after my whole regiment was killed’ — and all I would say is that Valya is going to find out a lot more, given that she is back where Desmond emerged as an adversary. And [it will] be interesting to see what she finds out.
What Schapker's Statement Says About Arrakis In Dune: Prophecy Season 2
Investigation & Answers Are Underway
Although it's unclear what will happen on Arrakis, the cast of Dune: Prophecy is likely going to be more connected to it as the truth about Desmond's power begins to unravel. An unknown party gifted him the ability to infect others with a nanotech virus, utilizing illegal thinking machines in an attempt to gain power, despite their identities currently being a mystery. This is compounded by the revelation Tula (Olivia Williams) is actually his biological mother, another storyline for season 2 to tackle.

The Desmond Hart Thinking Machine Twist In Dune: Prophecy Explained
Desmond Hart's shocking Thinking Machine twist in the Dune: Prophecy season 1 finale reveals a new threat to Valya Harkonnen and The Sisterhood.
It's unclear what Valya's plan is now that her, Ynez, and Keiran have escaped the Imperium, especially now that Emperor Corrino (Mark Strong) is now dead. With Natalya (Jodhi May) likely taking power, and blaming Sister sca (Tabu) for his death, the Sisterhood is in danger of being hunted down by the new Empress' armies as a show of power. This puts the trio on Arrakis in grave danger during Dune: Prophecy season 2, as it will be unclear who they can trust as multiple enemies, one known and one unknown, lurk in the shadows.
Our Take On Arrakis' Role In Dune: Prophecy Season 2
The Planet Holds The Key
Given the largest mystery in Dune: Prophecy is connected to Arrakis, answers are inevitable in season 2, even as Valya and her companions deal with the looming threat of a newly-ruled Imperium. While the dangers they face will be great and the secrets bountiful, their vigilance in uncovering the truth will be their most important asset. Since it's still unclear who gave Desmond his thinking machines, though, it might take some time before she learns the truth about the other secret powers in play.
Dune: Prophecy was renewed for season 2 ahead of the season 1 finale.
