A Dune: Prophecy star reveals the filming schedule for season 2. Taking place 10,000 years before the events in Denis Villeneuve's Dune, HBO Max's prequel series tells the tale of the origins of the Sisterhood, later known as the Bene Gesserit. Led by Valya (Emily Watson) and Tula Harkonnen (Olivia Williams), season 1 revolves around their battle against a threat at a critical time in the Sisterhood's history. Ahead of season 1's finale in December, HBO Max has ordered a new season.

In an interview with Collider, Josh Heuston, who plays Constantine Corrino, shared a production update for Dune: Prophecy season 2. The actor shared that filming is expected to begin around August and continue "through the rest of the year." He also confirmed that Constantine, the Empire's son, will return in the new season. Read his comments below when asked whether he was involved in season 2:

Yes. Definitely in Season 2. We go back, I believe, in August, and then we're filming through the rest of the year.

What Josh Heuston's Comments Mean For Dune: Prophecy Season 2

Dune: Prophecy Season 2 Will Likely Return Late Next Year

Watson has previously discussed the filming window for season 2 in January, pointing to a fall production schedule. While Heuston's update offers a more specific timeframe and start time, it also puts season 2's filming schedule in the last quarter of the year, which means Dune: Prophecy won't return this year.

Dune: Prophecy season 1 premiered in November 2024, roughly 11 months after filming wrapped in December 2023. If season 2 follows the same timeline, this would put the series' return somewhere in late 2026. While the season 2 cast has not yet been officially confirmed, Heuston is returning. In the same interview, he teased that season 2 would likely follow his character "on a bit of a ride" following the explosive revelation about Constantine's heritage.

The Dune: Prophecy season 1 finale has set up the chessboard for season 2. The mystery around Desmond Hart has been lifted, and the emperor has met his demise. Meanwhile, Valya, Ynez, and Kieran were heading toward Arrakis, a key location in the Dune universe, while Constantine, who is in charge of the Royal Fleet, also arrived on the planet. It's not a surprise that the Emperor's illegitimate son will be back in season 2, but Heuston's comments do make him among the first to confirm his return.

So far, details about Dune: Prophecy season 2 have remained under wraps and it has been a while since we've heard about anything. While Heuston didn't share any further information on the plot and characters, he did highlight a high level of conflict and secrecy, which was what made season 1 so shocking and explosive. It sounds like Dune: Prophecy season 2 is headed in a good direction.
