Resource management plays a major part in the path to victory in enemies time to get ahead.
One solution to players lacking a resource is that they can trade with another faction for what they need. It solves a short-term problem in Dune: Spice Wars though. The trades they can make often aren’t the best deals, and players will still need to develop infrastructure to make sure they don’t run into the same problem of being short on a resource again.
There is a lot to manage in Dune: Spice Wars, and running out of a resource can happen for any number of reasons. For example, maybe they are running low on spice because their harvester got eaten by a sandworm, and now production is down. If this happens, they can trade with another faction to get what they need. Initiating a trade is simple, however, getting a good trade is a little more complicated. First, players need to click on the faction they wish to trade with. Their icons are found in the top right corner of the screen. Next, players will select the resources they wish to trade for and what they are willing to offer in exchange.
Trading Resources In Dune: Spice Wars
The resources available for trade are Spice, Solari, Plascrete, Influence, Agents, and Intel. Notably, there are a few resources missing here, such as Water and Manpower. These are special resources essential for building an empire in Dune: Spice Wars that cannot be traded, so be sure to not neglect them.
When on the trading screen, the arrows between the two factions indicate how agreeable the are. Up arrows mean the other faction will accept it, downwards arrows mean it will be declined. The ideal trade in Dune: Spice Wars is for there to be one up arrow, this ensures the trade will be accepted. If there are more up arrows, players can ask for more resources from the other faction. Try to balance it as much as possible.
There are a few important things to pay attention to when trading with other factions in Dune: Spice Wars. The first is which items other factions do and don't value. Players should try to trade with a faction that doesn’t value the item needed, and high prices the items player's have a surplus of. The other important thing for players to pay attention to is their relationship with other factions. A higher relation means better trade, and it is less likely that the faction attacks the player. In the trading screen, players can also make treaties, or exert military pressure depending on their faction.
Dune: Spice Wars is available on PC.
