Wizards of the Coast has shadow dropped a new Baldur's Gate series. All proceeds from the book will go to the Extra Life charity, which has raised over thirty million dollars for sick children since 2008 through various gaming marathon events.
Minsc debuted in Baldur's Gate as one of the party that could be recruited during the early hours of the game. He is always ed by his animal companion, Boo, who is a miniature giant space hamster. Minsc is a Ranger, who was originally sworn to protect a Rasheman Witch, named Dynaheir. When Dynaheir is killed before the events of Baldur's Gate 2, he res the party and swears revenge against her killer. Minsc and Boo were later petrified, and awoken in the modern era. The duo is still adventuring in the Forgotten Realms to this day and can be seen in the pages of the D&D comics.
A new D&D book starring the Ranger & hamster duo can now be purchased on the Ohlen runs one of Wizard of the Coast's game development studios. Minsc and Boo's Journal of Villany costs $34.95 for the softcover edition, with all proceedings going to the Extra Life charity.
Minsc and Boo's Journal of Villainy is a book that details characters and locations from the Baldur's Gate series while updating them for the fifth edition of the game. The first chapter features familiar settings, like Baldur's Gate and Athkatla; the second chapter features new group patrons for players to use in D&D, such as Jaheira and Xan Moonblade; the third chapter deals with villains, with Bhaal, the God of Murder, likely being the most familiar to fans, as they were trying to stop his revival in the Baldur's Gate games. The fifth chapter deals with henchmen, including Sarevok, the villain of the original Baldur's Gate, who can the party in Throne of Bhaal; and the final chapter has stat blocks for monsters, including Gibberlings and Wolfweres.
Minsc and Boo's Journal of Villany isn't the only D&D book that will feature the duo. It was revealed during D&D Celebration 2021 that a new D&D book with Minsc and Boo is coming in 2022. It's likely that the book will somehow connect to the Baldur's Gate 3, which is currently in early access but is also set for a full release next year.
Minsc and Boo's Journal of Villany is available now.
