Dungeons & Dragons already has some great official settings, but 5e has proven to be such a popular edition that it's being used for various unofficial and fan-made worlds, too. Now, Chris Metzen - the co-creator of games like Warcraft and Starcraft - has announced his company, Warchief Gaming, is working on a new tabletop book based on 5e and set in a completely new world. Here's everything to know about the Warcraft creator's new Dungeons & Dragons world of Lawbrand.

The names behind the new book, Auroboros: Coils of the Serpent, are pretty big. In addition to Chris Metzen, former Blizzard exec Mike Gilmartin (who also worked on Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo) and former Hearthstone game designer Ryan Collins are also attached to the project. The Auroboros book was announced in a reveal trailer ahead of a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter starting on April 20th.

Auroboros: Coils of the Serpent follows the Warchief Gaming sourcebook, Worldbook: Lawbrand. New Dungeons & Dragons' subclasses have a pretty steady rollout, but Auroboros will introduce both new subclasses and races. A new Wildkeeper subclass has been confirmed alongside a pretty new interesting race called the Atsaad. While these look pretty great, Auroboro's world of Lawbrand is rich with lore and history as well.

New D&D Campaign: Auroboros's World Of Lawbrand Explained

New Dungeons and Dragon Auroboros World From Warcraft Creator

The world of Lawbrand is comprised of multiple Trade-Cities, and tensions with the Sularian Church may end in upheaval. Adding to the tension are cults forming out in the wilderness, and the World-Serpent, Auroboros, awakening to devour everyone. This new D&D world is based on a campaign Metzen played with friends in the '80s and '90s, but it's been reimagined to be compatible with 5e.

Of course, this isn't an official new Dungeons & Dragons campaign or world, but it's still immensely cool. Warchief Gaming was formed last year, and Auroboros: Coils of the Serpent will be the company's first campaign sourcebook. More details are expected once the Kickstarter campaign begins on April 20th, but the world of Lawbrand is shaping up to be a pretty interesting one. With so many of D&D 5e's official campaigns taking place in the Forgotten Realms, Auroboros seems like a nice high-fantasy alternative.

With its societal emphasis on laws and rules, the world of Auroboros: Coils of the Serpent has a pretty interesting culture. The world is also rife with magic and dangers, so there's plenty for players to discover. For those looking for a great campaign that exists outside the canonical worlds of Dungeons & Dragons, the new book from Chris Metzen and Warchief Gaming looks pretty promising.
