Former on the heartstrings of many as Chmerkovskiy mentioned that he was now getting rid of his PTSD and starting to worry about barbeque grills, as he thinks all men should. The PTSD he is referring to can likely be linked to a similar crisis the Chmerkovskiy family endured in the '90s before moving to the United States.
While Chmerkovskiy is safe and has been planning a way to leave the country, he is worried about friends and family in the country who will not be permitted to leave. In one of his many daily logs, he discussed how dire the situation is and stated that the very people that he judged in dance competitions previously are now being forced to fight for their country. His wife, Peta Murgatroyd, also took to Instagram to request prayers for her husband. Her post was made on the same day as Chmerkovskiy's. Murgatroyd, like her husband, does not use social media as a place to air personal issues but found this time to be desperate. She has also been using her Instagram Stories to raise awareness about the Russian invasion and keep her fans aware of her husband's whereabouts.
In While Chmerkovskiy did not give insight into what most of his options were, he informed his fans that his current plan is to make it to the border. Though he is experiencing some nerves about this, he is hopeful that he will be okay and will make it home safe. At the end of this post, he asked fans and viewers to not worry about him if he is no longer making updates to his social media page or replying to his messages as he is prioritizing leaving the country and responding to his wife and parents.
While Chmerkovskiy has been posting on his page to speak about how the war has been affecting him and his close ones personally, his Instagram Story has been reserved for more in-depth updates and a space to share how he feels about the current crisis. Just recently, Chmerkovskiy shared links for resources and information on how to help Ukraine, and he also shared information specifically for Ukrainians looking for accommodation in Slovakia. He also shared when he got access to a train and was heading to Warsaw where he was in a cabin with 135 people that usually holds 30 people. This post was shared by his wife, Murgatroyd, where she was encouraging his journey home and stating how proud she was of him for helping the children, ages 2-11, that were aboard the train.
Dancing With The Stars' Chmerkovskiy has been seemingly calm throughout the period, but his outrage began to show as he blasted a Russian journalist he is calling "Ron Burgundy." Despite the threats being made by world leaders against President Vladimir Putin for continuing this war, the Russian president has not shown any signs of wanting to end the war. In the meantime, world leaders are doing all they can to assist Ukraine in dealing with this invasion.
