After appearing in the bottom two, Olivia Jade contemplated if Dancing With The Stars helped her gain the public's trust again. Since the beginning of the competition, Olivia has made it a priority to appear on the show to showcase her authentic self after she got wrapped up in the college issions scandal. In early 2019, Olivia's parents, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli, pleaded guilty to charges of bribing their daughter's way into the University of Southern California. Since then, Lori spent two months behind bars and was released last December. Mossimo, on the other hand, was allowed to serve the final days of his five-month sentence under house arrest last April.
Olivia ended up in the bottom two with Spice Girls' Mel C. during DWTS' Grease-themed episode. Though it was one of their strongest performances to date, Olivia's pro dance partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, believed that due to her past, they're likely not going to get the majority of the fan votes. But in order to motivate the YouTube personality, Val said they just need to continue to nail each dance and be so good that America has no choice but to vote for them. For Monday's Halloween-themed episode, Olivia was ready to prove viewers wrong by performing her first Paso doble to "Beggin'" by Maneskin. The routine was inspired by The Purge and received 9's across the board from the judges' .
In a new interview with Screen Rant, Olivia checked back in with her original goal of showing the world who she truly is. "I think there's added pressure," Olivia said, adding that performing every week on Olivia was really nervous in the bottom two and tried to her priorities, which include making Val happy. "I think he deserves to be here and I don't want anything personally to get in the way of that," Olivia said. Now that she got her scores back up, Olivia discussed her comeback after last week's scary ending. "It felt fantastic," Olivia said, as Val started dancing around the room. "It felt really, really great. Being in the bottom two is not very fun, so to be saved second...is really relieving. It's so nice to just hear your name get called." Olivia added that she's having the best time on the show and never wants it to end.
Now that fans are starting to cheer on the idea of Val going against his wife, Jenna Johnson, and her celebrity partner, JoJo Siwa, in the finals, Olivia itted she likes the idea of that too. The beauty blogger itted the four of them have gotten really close and even have a group chat together. "I'm rooting for them just as much as I'm rooting for myself," she said.
After a very public controversy, it's hard to put oneself back out there and change people's opinion. That said, it shows a lot of courage that Olivia was able to do just that. It's disappointing that her parents' mistakes are now affecting her survival on Dancing With The Stars, but nonetheless Olivia's talent is breaking her through.
