Weapon mods can add more durability to a weapon that has little durability left in Dying Light 2. However, since all weapons have a set durability cap, mods shouldn't be slotted until the durability on a weapon is low.

Players can first check out weapon mods after completing the "Meet The People Of The Bazaarobjective in Dying Light 2 by speaking with the Craftmaster. As more side objectives are completed in Dying Light 2, more Craftmasters will be able to set up shop as well. Each Craftmaster has a unique set of weapon mod blueprints that can be purchased for Old World Money, the primary form of currency in Dying Light 2. After purchasing a weapon mod or earning it from a side quest players can install them from anywhere on the map, meaning players don't need to return to a Craftmaster in order to install the blueprint. As long as players have the required ingredients for a weapon mod, they can craft it anywhere in Dying Light 2.

Upgrading weapon mods, however, requires infected trophies in Dying Light 2. These items can only be obtained from defeating special infected such as Banshees, Bolters, and Goons, each of which can be more easily found at night as the infected walk about the streets in Dying Light 2. While these enemies can be challenging to take down, particularly because they are never seen on their own, the infected trophies will go a long way toward being able to craft better weapon mods in Dying Light 2.

As players continue to progress through Dying Light 2, they'll come across different weapon mod types such as Crit Mods, Power Mods, and Blast Mods. Crit Mods are weapon mods that activate upon a critical hit, while power mods need to be charged by attacking enemies then used with a Power Attack, but only if players have the required Combat Skill unlocked. Blast Mods can be activated manually to bring about an enemy's ending in Dying Light 2, though they need time to recharge. Furthermore, weapon mod types can be applied to the Shaft, Grip, Tip, and Charm slots on a weapon, and cannot be changed or removed once applied in Dying Light 2.
