Game publisher all-digital E3 2021. The controversial company held its first Ubisoft Forward in July 2020, ing the ranks of developers and publishers pivoting to digital, self-produced showcases in the wake of the global pandemic and E3 2020’s cancellation. The presentation was followed by several others throughout the year which showcased projects from some of Ubisoft’s biggest franchises.

If Ubisoft Forward follows this trend, the delayed Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake, which currently has no release date.  Another of Ubisoft’s biggest franchises may also have a presence at the show as anticipation for Far Cry 6 mounts. The game seems to have been experiencing development difficulties since it was announced, and it most recently saw one of its senior designers leave the project.

Thursday, Ubisoft announced it will hold its next Ubisoft Forward presentation on June 12 at 12 PM PDT/3 PM EDT as part of E3 2021 (which itself runs from June 12 - 15). Though Ubisoft seems to be ready to jump back into the returning gaming industry conference’s virtual stage, its reveal offered up very few details. The message posted on the company’s website does hint that fans can expect announcements and further information on projects from the company’s global teams. Holding its showcase on June 12, the first day of E3’s festivities, means Ubisoft will be one of the earliest shows of 2021’s virtual conference.

Also PlayStation, which withdrew from E3 several years ago, seems to remain completely uninvolved with E3 this year.

No matter how sparse it was, Ubisoft’s announcement today means the summer season of gaming showcases is rapidly approaching. The company’s recent path has been rocky with apparent development issues and its failure to provide workers a healthy work environment, but its E3 2021 presentation has potential to further distract from its shortcomings.
