For six seasons, Teen Wolf actively explored the supernatural side of Beacon Hills. Werewolves were the first and most vital creatures in town as Scott McCall, Derek Hale, and several other essential characters were werewolves.
However, by the end of the series, the McCall Pack had discovered the existence of Kanimas, Banshees, Ghost Riders, Nogitsunes, Kitsunes, and more. Each season broadened the world of possibility within the presence of the supernatural.
Teen Wolf became crucial for MTV's future as a respite for scripted teen dramas.

When the McCall pack finds Derek, they are in for an unfortunate surprise. They find Derek, but not the man they had known. Instead, they find a younger Derek, who does not them, but knows and trusts Kate Argent. Kate's return stirs things up in Beacon Hills, but overall it did not do as much for the series as others. The season features a dead pool of those who are supernatural. But, the season does include one of Scott's most massive developments as a True Alpha. To save Liam's life, Scott bites him and turns Liam into Scott's first Beta, leading to expanding his pack.

Scott McCall did not want to be a werewolf, at least, not at first. When Scott is bitten in the woods, it changes his entire life. Scott's new powers enhance his sight, hearing, and strength, making the smallest of noises the largest of sounds. However, suddenly, Scott is excellent at lacrosse, his magnified senses allowing him to maneuver the field better than any other player.
Unfortunately, being a werewolf is not without enemies. His crush's parents are werewolf hunters, but luckily Scott has some backup too. Stiles, his best friend, helps Scott through understanding his transition, and Derek, an older werewolf, mentors Scott to gain control of his powers.

The first half of the final season uses Ghost Riders to kidnap people and pull them out of their home realm. Once they've been taken, those left behind can no longer them until they see something of importance that belonged to the stolen person. For the McCall Pack, the first taken is Stiles, and Lydia, Scott, and Malia are left behind, struggling to determine what, or who is missing from their lives. Unsurprisingly, the McCall Pack are all reunited by the midseason finale, only for things to get worse for them in the back half of the season.
The last group of episodes makes werewolf hunters the central antagonist, mirroring the first season, except with one glaring difference. Instead of having hunters try to determine several werewolf identities, Gerard Argent has a more dangerous plan. Using fear to his advantage, Gerard turns the town's people into werewolf hunters after revealing the existence of werewolves to the public. The final season turns fear on its head, letting the show's protagonists become the town's antagonists.

When their parents are kidnapped, Scott, Stiles, and Allison go beyond the call of duty to find them. Forced to enter into their minds to find the Nemeton, the group must uncover where to save Argent, Melissa, and Stilinski. However, the second half of the season makes a point to become more emotionally stressful for everyone. Deaton's warning about the dangers of finding the Nemeton starts to come true as it becomes a beacon for the supernatural. By the end of the first half, Scott faces a massive change when he becomes a True Alpha.
However, Stiles takes on the most pain. Stiles's body becomes the vessel for the Nogitsune, who takes enjoyment in tricking Stiles's friends and nearly killing Stiles. While the Nogitsune does not kill Stiles, it does become the cause of death for Allison Argent.

Being a werewolf is not easy, but Scott has gained control now. He's grown to accept his new life and abilities, but still, things are not looking good. Scott still has Stiles and Allison in his corner, but his circle continues to grow. The second season poses a question about Lydia's identity after she is bitten by Peter but does not transform into a werewolf. Meanwhile, a Kanima wanders around town being the cause of mayhem in Beacon Hills. Teen Wolf begins to expand on the world, lore, and creatures of the supernatural throughout the season.

Theo Raeken enters the fold to destroy the McCall Pack slowly from within. As a were-coyote and someone working with the Dread Doctors, Theo takes on an antagonistic role in the season. Scott must also say good-bye to his second girlfriend, Kira, in the season finale. With Kira's Kitsune abilities threatening to overpower her, Kira must train with the Skinwalkers to embrace her powers and gain further control. Although Scott and Kira's relationship concludes on an open-ended note, Kira never reunites with Scott by the series finale. Along the way, Stiles confronts his feelings in the aftermath of killing Donovan.
