The game one of the greatest RPG games with romance options, includes 3 total classes, the Warrior, the Rogue, and the Mage, each with 6 possible specializations (4 from the base game and 2 from the Awakening expansion).
Each class and specialization pairing offers different mechanics and utilizes unique combos in order to be useful to the player's party. Nevertheless, some manage to stand out as easier choices to play and thus are ideal for newer players.
Warrior Berserker
Generally, the Warrior class offers the simplest gameplay out of all three classes since it packs great strength and solid resistance via simple moves. Warriors can lead when attacking since they are able to take the aggro out of all the enemies and not die due to their high defense and health, while also dealing solid area of effect damage.
Especially Berserker is one of the tankiest warrior specializations due to it having even extra health and resistance. In short, it is a class that is more forgiving to mistakes made by newer players.
Warrior Champion
The Champion specialization serves as the ally that provides buffs for the entire team. Through simple and easy-to-use skills, it increases the damage and the defense of all allies, while also decreasing the resistance of all opponents.
On top of that, the Champion includes knockdown skills that provide some additional control over the whole fight. Due to those, he is generally one of the best options for beginners. Alistair, one of the most likable characters in the whole Dragon Age series, is considered the best option for a Warrior Champion.
Arcane Warrior Mage
The Mage is arguably the most overpowered class in the game. Despite being harder to use than most warrior specializations, the Arcane Warrior Mage offers the highest damage out of all mage specializations. With a long-range, area of effect, and exceptionally strong elemental attacks, it packs a punch.
Having a mage in the player's party makes Dragon Age: Origins substantially easier, due to how strong the class is. Because of this, especially the Arcane Warrior is considered an excellent choice for new players.
Warrior Reaver
Another solid option for newer players among the Warrior specializations is the Reaver. It offers increased Taunt mechanics and higher damage, while also having the ability to self-heal by absorbing health from nearby corpses.
As another high damage class that is almost impossible to kill, the Reaver is one of the best and most forgiving options for newer players.
Warrior Guardian
One of the specializations offered in the Awakening expansion, the Guardian, focuses primarily, as his name reveals, on guarding allies and making sure that the whole party survives. With high shield protection and armor bonuses provided to all allies, the Guardian is a solid option for beginners as it ensures the survivability not only of the warrior itself but of the whole party.
The gaurdian allows players to experiment more freely with different classes and specializations, without worrying about dying easily.
Assassin Rogue
Assassin Rogue is one of the easiest classes for new players due to the significantly high damage that it offers through easy-to-perform attacks. It allows players to clear enemies quickly and efficiently through stealth approaches.
Especially when combined with a warrior class that can tank in front, the Assassin Rogue can be an extremely useful asset to the party as it deals high damage with minimal combos and effort. Things can get tough only if there is no one to tank in front.
Ranger Rogue
Mages aren't the only ranged damage dealers in the game, and the Ranger Rogue can be a great option for newer players, especially when using some of the best builds. It utilizes animals like wolves, bears, and spiders in order to deal high damage with minimal effort.
It has the beasts to tank in front and take the aggro while the Ranger stays at the back and deals high damage from a safe distance without worrying about dying. Due to being both a tank and a damage dealer, the Ranger is a great choice for newer players and one of the easiest classes to play.
Spirit Healer Mage
The Spirit Healer Mage is considered one of the best, dedicated healer classes in Dragon Age: Origins. It offers area of effect healing spells, protective shields, and even revives, which can be extremely beneficial to newer players.
It is one of the most forgiving classes in the game regarding mistakes since it is able to make up for any bad situation by bringing allies back to life and to full health if needed. On top of that, all of its skills have a huge hitbox, thus making them easy to hit.
Battlemage
The Battlemage is a close-range mage specialization from the Awakening. It is considered one of the best choices for beginners due to having increased survivability. It has a spell that allows it to steal health from nearby enemies and a ive that continuously regenerates its' mana.
Combined with its other skills which can deal significantly high damage, it is one of the best beginner-friendly classes in the game due to offering both sustainability and damage utilized through simple but powerful moves.
Legionnaire Scout Rogue
The Legionnaire Scout is an Awakening Rogue specialization that leads the party into battle with increased resistance. It feels more like a Warrior specialization due to its increased defense, which is exactly what makes it a great and easy beginner option.
It offers skills that make it immune to physical and magical damage, as well as knockdown, thus making it one of the best options for leading the fight and taking the aggro without exerting much effort.
