An industry insider who has previously proven reliable claims to confirm that Dark Souls games. With no official updates from the developer about the state of Elden Ring, a flurry of leaks and rumors (mostly the latter) have poured online with growing frequency. Recently, Xbox's Aaron Greenberg even had to deny that the game would be showcased during an Xbox presentation in March.
In early March, a supposedly real COVID-19 pandemic's had a significant effect on development and has possibly led to a delay out of a presumed 2021 release window.
Elden Ring may bring back PvP multiplayer and give players a choice of up to four distinct classes when it releases. At least, that's according to a prominent industry insider known as Omnipotent on ResetEra. In a post first discovered by Wccftech, the leaker claims that recent rumors of classes and online functionality in Elden Rings are accurate. In later posts, Omnipotent also said that the same class system that was present in Dark Souls will return, giving players the ability to choose one of four starting classes but that they will have the freedom to level up as they see fit. The leaker also alleged that the recent trailer was not an intentional leak and was likely a trailer made purely for internal use by Bandai Namco (thus explaining the "For internal use only" warning therein).
Elden Ring has become one of the most highly anticipated games in recent times despite - or perhaps because of - the fact that little has been shown of the project since it was first unveiled at E3 2019. A lot of this excitement stems from the fact that it is being developed by Dark Souls and Game of Thrones fans.
It has been a busy week for Elden Ring, even though neither FromSoftware or Bandai Namco have given any recent updates on the project's progress. It seems that more leaks and rumors are likely to come out over the next few weeks and months until some sort of official reveal is made, likely with on when Elden Ring can reasonably be expected to release.
