fans have made adorable 3D-printed plant holders of them. However, the game only vaguely touches on their lore. The few tidbits provided imply that they were servants of the Golden Order in some capacity, as indicated by their wax seal, which bears the symbol of the Erdtree. At some point, they became a hunted and endangered species. These iconic beings deserve an expansion of their own or, at the very least, to appear somewhere in the DLC.

The most popular Living Jar in Elden Ring is Iron Fist Alexander, whose quest sees him alongside the Tarnished up to the very last stages of the game. He is a comedic character and usually in jolly spirits, always making him fun to talk to. Throughout his encounters, Alexander is seen consuming the bodies of fallen warriors, so he may absorb their strength. However, Iron Fist Alexander’s Elden Ring questline ironically brings him to his doom. Beforehand, he tells the player of his home, Jarburg, which is the target of poachers who hunt the jars for their shards.

Jarburg is the rare picture of tranquility in Elden Ring. In the secret village, the jars live in peace and dance around an abundance of flowers. One of the notable jar residents is Jar Bairn, with whom the Tarnished shares a mutual acquaintance, their uncle Iron Fist Alexander. At the conclusion of Diallos’ and Jar Bairn’s questlines, Jarburg is left in ruins, so an expansion for it could weaken the significance of those character arcs. However, Jarburg doesn’t have to be the only place where the Living Jars were able to find a peaceful life. As dangerous as the region sounds, the rumored Badlands DLC for Elden Ring could have a town where Jars seek refuge from the Lands Between.

Elden Ring DLC Can Reveal More About The Great Jar

Elden Ring Great Jar Warrior Colosseum

Jar Bairn’s quest concludes with them receiving a shard of the Iron Fist, so they may become a mighty warrior jar someday. This journey could continue in any Elden Ring DLC, especially one where the Tarnished can fight alongside them. The perfect place to do this would be the coliseums around the Lands Between. The coliseum in Caelid is the most likely place for Jar Bairn to show up, as it is guarded by the Great Jar, the largest Living Jar in the game. The Great Jar says nothing to the Tarnished, but they fight three Great Jar warriors to get the Great Jar’s Arsenal talisman. There has to be more to this character, and it would be fun to see an interaction with Jar Bairn.

In any case, it would be great to have more peaceful content, like Jarburg, added to the game. Some fun, easy-going quest for other peaceful Jars could be an excellent way to vary the tone in an Elden Ring DLC. Maybe an Elder Jar could tell stories about the Jars and how they came to be, expanding on the lore in a lighthearted way.
