Elden Ring has a high chance of receiving another DLC, but the Lands Between could pose some problems to the new content. The paid DLC has been a hot topic in the community for a while, and there are numerous theories about the story and location of the expansion. Some suggest that there could be a time-travel involved, but that means the DLC could still be located in the Lands Between, which could cause some unexpected issues.
While paid DLC has not been officially confirmed, FromSoftware has provided free extra content with the release of the 1.08 update. The community was aware of the first DLC months before it was released due to data miners discovering suspicious files in the game. Content in Elden Ring's Colosseum update gives the title a breath of fresh air by adding new multiplayer modes, PvP balance changes, and more. The update also features five new hairstyle options that allow players to make their Tarnished hero more unique.
Players Could Get Bored If Elden Ring DLC Revisits The Lands Between
Elden Ring has been out for almost a year, and many fans could already have their fill exploring the Lands Between. Using the same location in the DLC might not be a good decision since some players could get bored seeing the same environment, and even if the expansion involves time travel, many major landmarks could still be the same. One way to avoid this issue is by leaving the Lands Between in Elden Ring DLC in favor of an entirely new map.
Elden Ring DLC Could Explore A New Area
Elden Ring DLC could introduce a new area that would allow players to experience the same feeling of wonder when they first step foot into the Lands Between. It is not impossible to create an expansion outside the current map since the lore has mentioned lands beyond the known world, such as the origin place of the Numen race. Leaving the Lands Between could also prevent FromSoftware from being limited by the established setting, and the developer could expand its creativity by building a unique location that is different from the world shaped by Marika.
Elden Ring DLC could focus on the story of the Tarnished by exploring their home beyond the Lands Between. There have even been leaks ing this possibility, such as Elden Ring's Badlands DLC rumors, which appeared on the internet due to a ransomware attack on Bandai Namco. Unfortunately, the rumor is most likely a hoax since it does not make sense for the perpetrator to release the sensitive information. Although the Lands Between is a beautifully crafted world, it might be better if Elden Ring DLC is set in a new location to prevent players from getting bored.
