The Elden Ring is a Shield Skill that can be used on medium and small shields. It comes with unique gold-tinted animation that is similar to the Parry Ash of War. Players can find the Golden Parry Ash of War in Elden Ring on the Outskirts of Leyndell Royal Capital.

Ashes of War in Elden Ring can be powerful tools in the right hands and with the right builds. They are powers that you can attach to weapons and shields and give them an extra boost. There are now a total of 117 Ashes of War with the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and figuring out which one is right for you and your build can be overwhelming. However, this can be narrowed down as many of them can only be equipped on certain items, like the Golden Parry which can only be used on small and medium shields.

Golden Parry Ash of War Location EDIT

The closest Site of Grace will be the Outer Wall Phantom Tree. The Golden Parry Ash of War will be near the large shut frame doors with aristocrats begging on the floor. It is a White Teardrop Scarab Ball. Players can find the Teardrop Scarab sitting on a ledge when heading toward the large doors.

Keep an eye out, as the Teardrop Scarab can be easily missed because of its positioning. When players scare or hit it, the Teardrop Scarab will try to escape behind structures. Stay close to it and wait for it to slow down to get the best melee or shot on it. After killing the Teardrop Scarab it will reward the player with the Golden Parry Ash of War.

How to Use the Golden Parry in Elden Ring

Stats, Abilities, & Builds

Players will have to have the Minimum Stat requirement to wield a Medium or Small Shield in Elden Ring in order to use the Golden Parry Ash of War. A good example of this might be something like the Beast Crest Heater Shield for those scaling primarily in Strength.

It only requires a 10 in Strength to wield, something you are likely to have fairly early on in the game. It comes with a regular Parry Skill, but this will be infinitely upgraded by switching it out with the Golden Parry.

This is far from the only shield capable of being used with the Golden Parry Ash of War, but, as Golden Parry can only be used on Shields, not Melee Armaments, it is a good example of the type of shield players might want to use it with. There are an infinite number of possibilities when using this Ash of War, but as RageGamingVideos points out, there are a number of things to consider when picking your best option for a parrying skill.

When equipping the Golden Parry Ash of War to a Shield, it automatically comes with the Sacred Affinity.

This is because, when Golden Parry is used when playing at 60fps, it has 14 parry frames and starts on the 8th frame. This makes it extraordinarily fast compared to other parrying options, meaning it might work a little too fast. While most of the time faster is better, with parrying that is not always the case if you are trying to get used to the rhythm of doing it at the same time in every fight.

The Golden Parry does have quite the range on it though, which can help you parry multiple enemies and bosses at once without actually having to get hit by them. The major downside of the Golden Parry is that it does consume FP, costing you 4 FP every time you use it which can run out your store quite fast.

It might be best on builds that are not relying heavily on FP for other things, letting you concentrate the vast bulk of your FP on parrying. That can make it easier to negate the cost of using it, and you will not worry as much about the high cost. However, for those who want something that does not consume FP every time, you might want to consider the Carian Retaliation Ash of War.

If you do choose to use it, Golden Parry can be equipped with a multitude of other affinities, including Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, and Lightning. One-handing or Two-handing a shield with Golden Parry does not change the animation or timing. To use the Golden Parry, players will have to time their action skill button to enemy attacks to break their stance. This will result in an animation being played and the enemy being downed for a Critical Hit.

This is fundamentally better than the Parry Ash of War because players can parry later than normal and achieve the same results. The main difference between the two is that the Parry Ash of War can be equipped on weapons as well as shields, so if you do not want to use a shield but your weapon normally cannot parry, this Ash of War allows it to do so

Since weapons can only be equipped with one Ash of War at a time, it is recommended to find something that will better suit your weapon's play style and enhance your attacks.

It might be better then that the Golden Parry is only available to use on devices meant for defending already. This can help you solidify your build, and it can also help you beat bosses such as Margit who are fast, and parrying them from a distance can keep you much safer. it can also keep you from getting overwhelmed in group fights. That makes the Golden Parry Ash of War still one of the best ones in Elden Ring.
