Sorceress Sellen in Elden Ring is an early character you will meet in Limgrave after defeating the Mad Pumpkin Head mini-boss, who guards Sellen's home at the Waypoint Ruins. After completing this prerequisite, you can find Sellen at the back of the cellar. Speaking to her teaches you how to cast long-range spells and more about Spellblade classes. However, there is a problem that is not made apparent right away.
When you interact with Sorceress Sellen, she will reveal that she can teach you more about Sorcery, but you must accept her offer to begin a questline. This will involve finding Master Lusat, amongst other tasks, until she reveals that her current form is only a projection. Sorceress Sellen will then task players with freeing her physical form from imprisonment in a cellar at the Witchbane Ruins.

Elden Ring: How To Complete White Mask Varré's Questline
White-Faced Varré, the first NPC whom Tarnished meet on their journey in Elden Ring, has a questline involving the bloodthirsty cult of Mohgwyn.
How To Rescue Sorceress Sellen From The Witchbane Ruins
Defeat Radahn
Before you can find Master Lusat, you will need to defeat a boss called Radahn. Defeating this boss is necessary to continue Sellen's storyline and eventually free her. Much like any other boss in Elden Ring, you will need to bring the best weapon to beat Radahn easily.
Defeating Starscourge Radahn in Elden Ring is no easy feat, so ensure you are adequately prepared and leveled to handle this encounter.
Go To The Weeping Peninsula
Once you have defeated Radahn, you can look for Sorceress Sellen's physical form, which is shackled in the Witchbane Ruins. Players can find the Witchbane Ruins on the Weeping Peninsula south of the 'Fourth Church of Marika' Site of Grace. You can reach this area by traversing or unlocking some more powerful spells from Sorceress Sellen.
Once you reach the Witchbane Ruins, you will find a staircase that leads into the cellar of a decrepit building. Head downstairs and go towards the end of the cellar. You will find Sorceress Sellen's physical form chained to a wall. Talk to Sorceress Sellen to receive Sellen's Primal Glintstone as a reward.
If you've tried to free Sellen's physical form earlier in the game, you can restore her to normal by praying at the Church of Vows. Make sure you also speak to Witch Hunter Jeren, who is found in the same room. Speaking to him here, or at Redmane Castle, is crucial for the next segment of Sellen's storyline.
How To Complete Sellen's Quest In Elden Ring
Find Her True Form
After you receive Sellen's Primal Glinstone, you will be tasked with finding another form of Sellen different from her Witchbane Ruins and Limgrave versions in Elden Ring. First, you must head to Ranni's Rise, a nearby set of ruins just to the northeast of the entrance to the cellar. Between the arches is an illusory floor that can be opened to reveal a staircase.
Next, head down the staircase and open the illusory wall at the back of the cellar to reveal another Sorceress Sellen. When you speak with Sellen, you will be prompted to give her Sellen's Primal Glinstone to progress further in her questline. If this option is missing during your interaction, it means that you hadn't previously spoken to Witch Hunter Jerren.
Completing Sorceress Sellen's quest is one of the lengthiest journeys players can undertake, but luckily, a full breakdown of all the steps involved is provided by Its Shatter, which details everything needed from beginning to end, along with the different choices players must make.
The final part of Sellen's quest consists of a possible invader's duel between you and Sellen. This requires that players have beaten Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon in Elden Ring. Fast travel to the Raya Lucaria Grand Library after the boss fight, backtracking slightly to the east.
You will need the Raya Lucaria Academy Glinstone Key to access the library, which players would have obtained before fighting Rennala.
Upon reaching the large double doors, head outside to find two summon signs on the floor. Players must make a crucial decision here, as the red Summon Sign is to challenge Sorcerer Sellen, while the gold one is to assist her.
Challenging Sellen; Rewards
Choosing to challenge Sellen pits you in a fight against the Sorceress alongside Castallan Jarren. Slaying her rewards you with the Witch's Glintstone Crown, along with
Sellen's Bell Bearing. This can be given to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold, allowing you to keep access to her inventory.
Jarren will also reward players with an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone in Elden Ring, which is the second-highest level of Smithing Stones in the game. However, upon betraying Sellen, you won't have access to other useful items.
Assisting Sellen; Rewards
On the other hand, by ing Sellen against Witch-Hunter Jerren in the Grand Library, you will be rewarded with a full Eccentric Armor Set. Upon returning to your world, you can speak to Sellen, now at the Grand Library in Rennala's spot.
She will grant you the Sellen Glinstone Kris, a dagger in Elden Ring. She also adds the Shard Spiral Sorcery to her inventory, and you can also take Lusat's and Azur's armor sets from where their bodies are found, which would otherwise be locked away from you.
