FromSoftware’s epic title, Elden Ring is inevitably due a DLC, which means even more content and ways to play. This is why players should have at least five characters set up and ready to experience it all. No one knows what new weapons, spells, and ashes of war will come with the DLC; so it is best to be prepared for anything.
At its core, as a spiritual successor to Dark Souls, the game is a hack-n-slash with RPG elements, which means Elden Ring has some weird weapons, a theme of the genre. While beating bosses and trash mob alike into submission with a weapon the players knows intimately is undoubtedly the main fun to be had, playing suboptimal or new builds adds incredible variety to the game. Additionally, while most of the endings do not require the player to go far out of their way; there is certainly entertainment to be had in role-playing as a champion of the player's chosen age.
Balance-wise, much has changed in Elden Ring in the last six months, and players who beat the game near release will find a familiar game with a host of updates and fixes. An update to colossal and great swords introduced a so-called “BONK” meta, a power fantasy of jump attacks: smashing the enemy into submission. However, it hasn’t all been buffs and bonuses; Elden Ring has had big nerfs since launch, and thus an old build may not treat a player as well leading to innovation.
Player Created Story Lines And A PvP Head Start Are Waiting In Elden Ring
Elden Ring players can prove they aren’t maidenless by completing Varré's quest without invading another player and then earning an early audience with Mohg. After defeating Mohg in battle, players can use his spear to commune with the Formless Mother and deal massive AOE damage; this can be the basis of a self-lead lore playthrough where the player spreads the cult of the Formless Mother to the Lands Between. This is just one example of a nearly endless supply of player-centric storytelling that can be created in Elden Ring.
While the game has not transformed completely, the subtle changes have gone in the right direction, and the addition of DLC will certainly bring a large portion of players back. This could be a good reason for players to come back to the game early and get comfortable with the controls again, as the Elden Ring DLC leaks may be true and could be adding PvP-focused content. With so much content available, Elden Ring certainly deserves another playthrough to appreciate the hard work put in by FromSoftware to make a great game.
