While a new trailer for Elden Ring was absent at The Game Awards 2020, the reveal might still be coming very soon, according to an industry insider. Hopes were high that FromSoftware would showcase the game at the recent ceremony held by Geoff Keighley, but unfortunately, nothing was shown, leaving fans wondering when the next big reveal for the game would be.

A week prior to The Game Awards 2020, a few rumors appeared hinting at a possible new Elden Ring trailer. The initial speculation drew inspiration from an Easter Egg hidden in the Demon’s Souls remake. Players discovered a suspicious noise that was similar to the sound of the hammer from the first Elden Ring trailer featuring a blacksmith. A few industry personalities claimed that it could potentially hint at a new reveal related to the game, and fans naturally grew excited. Unfortunately, fans didn’t get much to go on at TGA 2020 other than Elden Ring winning the Most Anticipated Game award - something that seems pretty obvious given how excitement built over a very speculative rumor leading into the ceremony.

Still, it appears that Elden Ring could be releasing a new trailer soon, for the first time since the initial announcement teaser back in 2019. According to industry insider Jeff Grubb, the game has already reached a playable, demonstrable state, which also means it can be shown publicly. He added that FromSoftware could’ve shown the game if it wanted to at The Game Awards 2020, too. While not in a position to freely cite any sources directly, he claimed that the next reveal is coming really soon. It’s not a matter of days or a couple of weeks, but players won’t have to wait many months, either. It is quite possible that the team needs just a month or two to prepare for a proper reveal.

Elden Ring's radio silence was last broken in November when Xbox’s Phil Spencer shared his experience with the game. According to Spencer, Elden Ring was already playable back then, and he spent quite a while enjoying Miyazaki’s latest project. Spencer did not elaborate on that topic with any solid information, but it was an encouraging statement that led many to believe a big announcement was on the horizon.

Considering all the recent rumors and reports, Elden Ring should be pretty far along into its development cycle. It could very well be ready for a proper gameplay reveal, which would do wonders for a game that's somehow maintained its buzz despite showing next to nothing since it was first announced. However, as is the case with all the previous rumors that have circulated around the game, the only certain thing is that fans will need to continue practicing patience in the build-up to Elden Ring.
