Now that to see it all unfold together. In the meantime, some rock-solid strategies have been working well for players in the pre-launch period, and many of them will carry over to the full release. That includes making churches a priority during your travels.

Just like any Souls game outside of Demon's, flasks are very important in Elden Ring Nightreign. Although you can randomly find ways to upgrade the efficacy of those flasks, the only method of gaining more of them is to head to churches. When you first drop in, take note of where all the churches are so that you can hit them strategically over the first two days.

Go To Each Church As Soon As You Can In Nightreign

The Sooner You Get Extra Flasks, The Sooner You can Use Them

Even before you land in Elden Ring Nightreign, make a habit of opening up the map and searching for the first place to pin. In many cases, there's going to be a point of interest that's right next to your party's drop spot, so you can quickly gain your first level-up. But in any situation, you're going to want to find the churches as soon as possible and start planning your route to hit all of them.

On a lot of initial runs, my parties would skip one or two churches in an attempt to hit other locations for as many upgrades as possible. This would lead to more inherent deaths, and the community as a whole shifted to attempting to visit more churches organically. Churches are often the first thing pinged during runs.

When Elden Ring Nightreign Unlocks In Your Region

Elden Ring Nightreign's release is less than a week away now, however, launch times will vary across different regions and platforms.

In the image in the gallery above, you could head east, pick up a flask, then take the flightpath south, grab that flask, then go slightly east and get the last one. Going to a church and interacting with the altar to gain a flask charge is one of the easiest and safest things you can do in Nightreign. Simply interacting with the altar will grant you an extra flask charge, increasing your default of three flasks to four, and so on with each subsequent church visit. In our experience, up to four churches can appear on a map.

It's essential to that you don't need to visit every church immediately. Just getting one or two flasks early into day one could help you in boss fights, but you technically have until the very end of day two to wrap up everything on the map, before you're sucked into the second night boss and the Nightlord's domain. Sometimes, hitting up locations to get better gear for the fights ahead is a better use of your time.

Every Single Flask Will Pay Off For Nightreign Bosses

You'll Need As Many As Possible, Especially When Learning Fights

Having even one more flask to use in each Elden Ring Nightreign fight could be the difference between a successful run and a failed one. Anyone who has played Souls games before and has cleared a boss with no flasks remaining after tons of tries can attest to this. The important thing to is that getting flasks early doesn't just help you with the Nightlord at the end of each session: it's useful for every single enemy, encounter, and boss throughout a run.

One key takeaway from my 40+ hours of Nightreign gameplay: make sure you know how long each location takes to complete. Churches can be fully cleared in seconds (again, all you need to do is get the flask from the altar, with no fight required), so if you only have a few minutes left before a circle closes on you and night begins, going to a massive castle and not clearing the boss is not a great use of your limited time.
