Elden Ring that you might need at some point. Root Resin is a bright orange substance secreted from the Erdtree. However, they aren't as common as other materials and can only be found in grassy biomes. You can combine Root Resin with Smoldering Butterflies and String to create an item that can be imbued on a weapon. This gives your weapon extra powers, making it highly advantageous to use against bosses and enemies.

Finding Root Resin can be challenging, but buying it off the Elden Ring for 50 Runes each is possible. This merchant will carry 10 at a time before he runs out, meaning you must find or farm the rest of it. Root Resin can mostly be found in the Lands Between, but there are other sources where you can find this fairly rare crafting material. You can also find Root Resin scattered throughout Limgrave, Weeping Peninsula, Murkwater Catacombs, Stormfoot Catacombs, and Stormhill.

Where To Farm Root Resin in Elden Ring

Overworld Locations & Farming Tips

The best location to farm Root Resin in Eldenn Ring is at the Warmaster’s Shack in Stormhill, west of Saintsbridge. You can fast travel to the Site of Grace near the shack to start farming in Elden Ring by going to a tree nearby. If you have rested, you can collect up to 6 Root Resin in this area.

Another great spot to farm Root Resin is the Revengers Shack in West Liurnia. You can also acquire two crystal buds alongside five Root Restin at this location. To see this accessible Root Resin farm that can also net you some Crystal Buds, check out the YouTube video from jesaiya.

The Root Resin farming process in Elden Ring is quite straightforward, as you need to look for a tree with three Root Resins around its base. You must simply collect the Resin and rest at the Site of Grace again to reset the surrounding area.

Once reset, you will have the opportunity to loot three more Root Resins. Repeat this process to farm the resource as much as needed.

Other places to find Root Resin as a lootable object include various grassy areas in Limgrave, Weeping Peninsula, and Liurnia of the Lakes, usually near the roots of minor Erdtrees and catacomb boss areas. There are four pieces of Root Resin in the trees near Groveside Cave.

There are a couple available in Gelmir Hero's Grave and some at the Shunning Grounds area. When farming, it is essential to know you can hold up to 999 Root Resin and store up to 999. Additionally, each individual piece can be sold for 10 Runes.

Each grease can be applied to a weapon to alter its attacks and add different elemental damage types. Greases are especially useful during the hardest boss battles in Elden Ring, but you should that Drawstring Grease made from Root Resin will not last as long as regular grease and will need to be reapplied sooner. However, the benefits of using Drawstring Grease in Elden Ring - the fact that it can be applied so quickly - means it is safer to use during boss fights.

Additionally, the Dragon Communion Grease can be crafted only with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, and it is the most valuable of the different Grease recipes to sell once they are made. You can find it all on dragon corpses throughout the DLC, but it is also possible to craft it.

Additionally, it grants you a potent anti-dragon effect, making it extremely helpful if you are completing the questline to become a dragon in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Notably, you will need to find Igon's Cookbook to make this Grease with Root Resin, which can be found near the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion in Elden Ring.
