The shocking final boss of Elden Ring's Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC is Promised Consort Radahn, who may be one of the hardest opponents to beat in any FromSoftware title to date. Those who Starscourge Radahn from the base game will understand just how dangerous he is in the DLC restored to his prime strength. It'll take careful preparation for you to even stand a chance against Miquella's champion.
Promised Consort Radahn is certainly one of the most challenging bosses in the DLC, but the two distinct phases of his fight put him on the same level as Malenia in Elden Ring. Although you don't have to use NPC or Spirit Ash summons, they will make the battle a bit easier. Even with help, Radahn can still destroy your character easily if you aren't paying attention to his attacks.

10 Tips If You're Finding Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree Too Hard
To take on Elden Ring's notoriously challenging DLC, there are many ways to prepare, skills to learn, and items to use that make it more manageable.
How To Prepare For Fighting Promised Consort Radahn
Equip Scarlet Rot Or Bleed Weapons
One good strategy to prepare for Promised Consort Radahn is to equip something that deals Bleed damage or builds up Scarlet Rot. This can either be a weapon like the Rotten Crystal Sword or a spell like
Rotten Breath that works with your character's build. Depending on the stats you've focused on while leveling up, you may or may not be able to wield some sort of tool that takes advantage of Radahn's limited weaknesses.
Radahn uses two colossal greatswords, but Shields still tend to do well in his boss fight despite the damage your Poise might take. Pretty much any character build can work for this fight as long as you have a keen eye and the patience to dodge roll at the right times. However, have defensive gear against Holy magic and physical damage to stand the best chance against Radahn across both phases.
Some incantations, such as the Golden Vow, can buff your character's physical damage negation for a time, which can be a good way to stay alive against Radahn's strong attacks.
Try to collect as many Scadutree Fragments in Elden Ring's DLC as you possibly can, as these items can be turned into Blessings that boost your character's defense. Gaining all the Blessing levels available will make Radahn's strikes less punishing if you make a mistake. Take your time to explore different areas in the Land of Shadow to find Fragments you may have missed before taking on the final boss.
One of the items you should equip to prepare for Radahn is Miquella's Great Rune, which can negate one of the boss' attacks during the second phase. This attack sees Radahn grab your character before inflicting them with a charm effect. Those with this effect can be killed instantly by having their Heart Stolen by Miquella, so to put on the Rune before stepping past the gold fog wall.
How To Defeat Promised Consort Radahn (Phase 1)
Don't Get Caught Rolling At The Wrong Time
The first phase against Promised Consort Radahn will force you into close combat with the boss at some point, forcing you to stay patient and dodge at the right times. This strategy will take some time and perhaps a few attempts to adopt due to Radahn's varied timing in his sword swings. Deadly combos and gravity powers make it difficult for magic s to stay far enough away despite the size of the boss arena.
The two NPC characters, Thiollier and Sir Ansbach in Elden Ring, can be summoned if you completed their questlines in the Land of Shadow before entering Radahn's boss arena at Enir-Ilim.
Do not lose sight of Radahn, as you should always be watching the boss' movements to see what they'll do next. A good strategy during this phase is to strike back when Radahn finishes a sword combo before he performs another move. Avoid the bloodflame attacks dealt by Radahn since these are the only moves in phase 1 that apply a status condition, the Hemorrhage effect that deals huge damage through Blood Loss.

How To Counter |
Gravity Cyclone |
At the start of the fight, Radahn leaps before turning into a spinning whirlwind of gravity magic that launches toward your character, causing a big Area of Effect (AoE) explosion when landing. |
Roll in any direction just as Radahn is about to reach your character. |
Triple Sword Slash |
Radahn swings their swords three times in delayed strikes when at mid to close-range. |
Dodge horizontally to one side three times as these attacks are about to land. |
Leaping Slam |
When far away, Radahn will jump through the air in a somersault towards you before slamming both swords into the ground as he lands. |
Roll away as Radahn is about to land, BUT don't attack until he starts to get up. If you try to punish the boss too early, he will do this attack again to immediately try and hit you. |
Twin Greatsword Combo |
Radahn swings their swords in a fast combo of strikes from left to right two times in a row. This attack ends with a dual sword smash that causes rocks to fly up from the ground. |
Dodge each swing with a precisely timed roll, then wait a bit before rolling one more time to avoid the rock AoE at the end of this attack. |

Incredible Elden Ring Player Manages To Defeat Final Boss Without Dodging
An impressive Elden Ring player manages to topple Shadow of the Erdtree's imposing final boss without ever rolling or dodging their attacks.

Bloodflame Slash |
Radahn makes one of his swords glow red before swinging it horizontally in a slashing attack. This leaves a trail of bloodflame, which explodes after a short time. |
As you see the boss' sword glow, dodge as soon as Radahn swings, then roll again to avoid the follow-up explosion of bloodflame. |
Gravity War Cry |
Crossing his hands, Radahn roars and creates a huge shockwave of gravity that pulls your character toward the boss. Radahn follows-up this move with a slam that creates an AoE from rocks flying up around him. |
Roll twice as soon as you see Radahn cross his arms to avoid getting pulled in. Those pulled in are staggered for a slight moment, but still have time to dodge roll away from the AoE. |
Stone Caller |
From mid to close-range, Radahn summons 8 rocks from the ground. The boss will quickly jump into the air and send the rocks as projectiles to attack your character. |
Either Sprint in one direction to avoid the projectiles, or jump right before they hit to dodge the impact of each rock. |
How To Defeat Radahn, Consort Of Miquella
Don't Waste Chances To Deal Damage
When Radahn reaches about 60% health, a cutscene will play as Miquella emerges from golden light to turn the restored Promised into his Consort once and for all. This phase is brutal, with Radahn being ed by Miquella's Holy magic to create insane attacks with massive AoE ranges. Many of Radahn's moves from the first phase remain with added properties you'll have to adapt to.
Conserving Stamina is the hardest aspect of this boss fight, so it may be wise to use consumables before you enter Radahn's arena to reduce your character's consumption of this resource.
What makes this part of the fight the hardest boss in Shadow Of The Erdtree is how Radahn leaves very few windows for you to retaliate after his attacks. Hit Radahn once or twice when you get the chance, but do not become overzealous for damage at any point. One mistake can easily spiral into defeat if you become greedy and want to build up a status condition or deal just a bit more damage too fast.

How To Counter |
Light of Miquella |
Usually at the start of this phase, Radahn floats into the air before conjuring a massive AoE explosion of light across several points in the arena. |
As soon as Radahn starts floating, Sprint until you are far away from the boss. Watch the ground for glowing circles of light, which becomes pillars of damage in the AoE explosion. |
Holy Empowered Swords |
Radahn performs the Triple Sword Slash attack from phase 1, but with each strike causing a pillar of light to erupt when a blade hits the ground. |
Roll to the side three times as you did before, but don't try to attack until the final pillar of light fades from the final swing. |
Blinding Mirage Assault |
From long-range, Radahn leaps into the air before sending four clones of himself toward your character doing overhead slashing strikes. The boss then jumps forward to try and deliver a fifth strike that ends with a light AoE explosion. |
Spam your dodge roll to one direction four times to avoid the extremely fast clones, then roll directly back twice to get away from the fifth hit and the explosion. |
Erupting Light Sword Combo |
Radahn does the Twin Greatsword Combo from the first phase, only with pillars of light exploding from the ground after each strike. |
Keep in mind that the light beams appear in the direction where a sword strike lands and roll to avoid each AoE line. that there is a final AoE at the end of this combo. |
During the second phase of the boss fight, Radahn still uses the same versions of the Stone Caller, Gravity War Cry, Bloodflame Slash, and Gravity Cyclone moves from before. You can counter these attacks in the same way you did before, but keep in mind there is a smaller window to punish them.

Miquella's Promise |
Radahn will hold their swords wide before jumping at your character, attempting to grab them. If grabbed, you will be brought close to Miquella, who charms your character. When this move lands twice, you are instantly killed as your heart is stolen by the ageless god. |
Either have Miquella's Great Rune equipped to resist the charm, or dodge right before Radahn is about to land in the jump to grab your character. |
Holy Meteor |
When at 20% health or less, Radahn slams their swords on the ground before going into the sky. After a slight amount of time, Radahn crashes back down like an arrow of light, causing a massive AoE explosion. |
Sprint to the other end of the arena from where Radahn leapt from. Alternatively, you can try to dodge at the last second after you see a star in the sky start hurtling toward you. |
As you can see in the above video by YouTube creator Ren Creates, some attacks are hard to avoid even if you have perfect timing. The truth of the matter is that you are likely going to take damage no matter what you do, so finding a time to heal is just as important as finding a time to strike back. Stay patient and endure for as long as you can to eventually acheive victory after much effort.
Taking down this reborn version of Radahn will reward you with 500,000 Runes and the Remembrance of a God and a Lord. Those who manage to beat Promised Consort Radahn can claim to have beaten all the main bosses of Shadow Of The Erdtree in Elden Ring and see a special cutscene signifying the end of the DLC's story.
