Elden Ring's Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC introduced several new gestures, including the "O Mother" emote you need to find for a specific NPC questline. You cannot pursue Count Ymir's story without knowing this gesture, so you'll want to learn it as you explore the Land of Shadow. The exact resting place of this emote lies between landmarks you can use to help pinpoint its location.

To reach the "O Mother" location, you have to progress far enough in the DLC to reach the Scadu Altus location on the new map for Shadow Of The Erdtree. This area is one of five large regions, including the Shadow Keep and Gravesite Plain in Elden Ring. Use Sites of Grace to make your way toward this area as you deal with the various enemies and possible bosses along the right path.

The "O Mother" gesture can be found in Bonny Village, located southeast of Moorth Ruins, where you can fight Dryleaf Dane for the Dryleaf Arts weapon in Elden Ring. This place is directly west of Scadu Altus, giving you a clear direction to travel. Use Torrent to cover a lot of ground and avoid potential enemies as you continue to move throughout the new map within this expansion.

Once you get to Bonny Village, head east and jump over a canyon before going north toward the upper border of the small settlement. You can discover a headless statue underneath a small, rotting tree devoid of leaves from here. The "O Mother" gesture can be seen as a glowing blue orb item right at the statue's feet for you to immediately pick up and use within your "Gestures" menu.

This emote is needed to unlock new areas past the Shadow Keep, the stronghold where you can fight powerful foes like Messmer The Impaler in Elden Ring's DLC. Once you're within the fortress, go to the headless Marika statue located past the Shadow Keep, Back Gate Site of Grace. Perform the gesture here to unlock a secret age leading to the Hinterland, a new area of the map to explore.

You will have to face two Tree Sentinels on your way into the Hinterland, but those with long-reaching polearm weapons like the Ripple Crescent Halberd should not have too much trouble taking down these enemies.

New weapons, gear, and other items await those who open the hidden route from the Shadow Keep. Anyone trying to earn rewards by completing Count Ymir's questline can also find the NPC's story continuing here alongside important lore about the Land of Shadow.
