Under the Katana Class of weapons in Elden Ring, the Uchigatana is the lightest and can be obtained in the Deathtouched Catacombs in Stormhill, Limgrave. However, it is only necessary to track the weapon down there if you are playing as anything other than a Samurai Class, since this is the default starting weapon for that Class.

For those playing the other classes in Elden Ring, you will unfortunately need to trek to the Catacombs if you would like to obtain this Melee weapon. The Deathtouched Catacombs entrance will be found on a cliffside, just northwest of Saintsbridge. When looking for the entrance, keep your eyes open for an apparition, who can be seen sitting just outside the door.

How To Find The Uchigatana in Elden Ring

Upon reaching the entrance, you must interact with the door, not the spirit sitting next to it. When you enter, you will tread down a flight of stairs where you will find a site of grace. Take a moment to rest before proceeding forward where you will eventually reach a boss's door.

While facing this door, take a left down another set of stairs. At the bottom, make a U-turn and you will find a narrow doorway leading to a room with crafting materials down a hidden tunnel.

Collect these items if you wish and then turn to the left where you will find another corridor. Follow the corridor to the end where you will find a body hanging over a ledge with an Uchigatana for you to collect. With the weapon in hand, you can leave the Deathtouched Catacombs if you like.

However, there are a few other items here worth grabbing. If you return to the base of the last set of stairs you came down and continue forward instead of looping around, you will eventually reach a small room.

Here, you will find the lever that opens the Elden Ring boss door at the beginning of these catacombs. Once activated, you can head back up the stairs until you have returned to the boss door for a fight with the Black Knife Assassin. Should you choose to take on this fight and complete it, you will receive the Assassin's Crimson Dagger as a reward.

This talisman will allow a set amount of health to be restored for every critical hit, so it might be worth grabbing early on in your journey while you're down here.

The skeleton enemies in the Deathtouched Catacombs cannot be killed by anything other than Holy-type damage in Elden Ring. Therefore, if you are without this type of damage, your best option is to run and dodge them while navigating quickly through the catacombs.

How to Stats Scale with the Uchigatana in Elden Ring

Fighting Styles & The Unsheath Ash of War

Uchigatana Stats in Elden Ring

The Uchigatana scales primarily with the Strength Stat and Dexterity Stat in Elden Ring. It is a Slash/Pierce type weapon, with the capability to cause blood loss buildup (45). Players can stack bleed status effects on enemies while attacking, causing blood loss, which will eat up a large portion of the enemy's health bar.

The Uchigatana comes with an Ash of War, or Weapon Skill, called Unsheath.

Unsheath is a unique Ash of War in Elden Ring that comes with 2 attack types whilst pressing the Skill Button. Players can use Unsheath to cause significant damage to enemies and close distance for extra attack combos. Depending on whether you have decided to 1-hand or 2-hand the weapon, the type of attack combos you will have access to while using the Uchigatana weapon will vary.

1-handing the weapon will give you a 5-slash light combo and a piercing/slash heavy combo. You will also have a piercing sprint attack and a quick slash roll-in attack. Most importantly, when 1-handing the Uchigatana in Elden Ring, you can use your off-hand for other equipment, such as shields.

When 2-handing, you will have the same 5-slash light combo and roll-in quick attack, but the heavy combo will start with an overhead slash, proceeding to an underhand slash. To complete a piercing attack, you must sprint forward and then attack. The slashes will be centered, and you will have increased Strength.
