In early June, developer ZeniMax Online Studios plans to unleash ESO's Blackwood expansion and Update 30.

PC/Mac s are set to receive the Blackwood chapter first on June 1; the console release will follow not too long thereafter on June 8. The region of Blackwood made its Elder Scrolls debut several years ago in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. ZeniMax Online Studios has crafted a new tale in the classic locale, one that tasks players with uncovering a Daedric plot that serves as one piece of the expansive Gates of Oblivion adventure. Said adventure should run at an especially high quality on the latest consoles from Sony.

In a blog post on developer ZeniMax Online Studios unveiled Console Enhanced, a native version for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S that will launch this summer on June 8. Players who already own ESO on last-gen platforms will receive access to the upgrade free of charge. While PS5 and Xbox Series owners can currently play ESO via backward compatibility, Console Enhanced represents a leap that harnesses the full power of the new hardware. Performance Mode will unlock 60 FPS capabilities, for example. Elsewhere, fans can expect an almost doubled draw distance, high-resolution textures, and improved antialiasing - the latter of which smooths out jagged edges on foliage and various structures. The improvements apply to shadows, reflections, and depth of field, too. Plus, Console Enhanced cuts loading times in half.

Based on the little that can be gleaned from the first details, it seems Elder Scroll Online's development crew left no stone unturned when enhancing the experience on newer technology. And the early June due date means the wait for ESO's next-gen upgrade isn't a long one.

DOOM Eternal. At the time of writing, though, neither id nor Bethesda have specified when the shooter's PS5 and Xbox Series X|S enhancements will go live.
