While Schitt's Creek cleaned up, there were certain shows that everyone can agree deserved to take home the Emmy, regardless of what category they were nominated for. However, like all award shows, some of the best out there were neglected. So, here are the wins that were totally deserved, and five shows that the Emmys missed.

Deserved The Win: Succession (2018 - )

succession

Taking home the win for Outstanding Drama Series, Succession tells the story of a dysfunctional global-media family in America. Viewers are hooked from start to finish, and this drama series deserved its love.

In total, it actually took home seven Emmys! That's a lot, and it's one of the biggest wins of the evening. This show didn't shock anyone for getting its nominations or its wins.

Was Missed: The Boys (2019 - )

the boys

This comedy crime drama has a whopping 8.7/10 on IMDb, and while it isn't the most popular, it's a hidden gem that everyone is missing out on. With an season in 2021, fans are hoping the Emmys will recognize it next year.

The Boys has vigilantes and corrupt superheroes - and that's all anyone should have to know before they tune in to this hugely entertaining show.

Deserved The Win: Schitt's Creek (2015 - 2020)

Everyone knew this show was bound to have some success at the Emmys, and while fans might not have thought they'd take home this many, it was certainly a show that deserved its wins.

Was Missed: Little Fires Everywhere (2020)

little fires everywhere

This series definitely got its share of nominations, but the stellar cast and crew left the awards without a single Emmy win! While this drama didn't exactly get 'missed,' it feels like it did.

Reese Witherspoon's performances deserved far more recognition.

Deserved The Win: Watchmen (2019)

watchmen

This show had a ton of nominations under its belt, and it's not a surprise that it took home a couple wins, including ing Actor in a Limited Series (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series (Regina King).

Watchmen also won Outstanding Limited Series, which definitely set it apart from the others nominated this year. HBO and Netflix are always two top contenders, but it's no shock this HBO series took home this win.

Was Missed: Defending Jacob (2020)

Apple TV+ arguably got ignored, and that includes this mini-series. Defending Jacob stars Chris Evans and Michelle Dockery, and is a thriller about murder and family.

This drama was definitely snubbed and deserves more recognition from the Emmys, as well as the general public - for all those that love crime and drama. For those that have seen it, they know it's worthy of its 8/10 on IMDb.

Deserved The Win: Mrs. America (2020)

Not only is Mrs. America totally lovable, but it was very unlikely that Uzo Aduba wasn't going to take home a win for ing Actress in a Limited Series. Based on the life of activist Phyllis Schlafly, this show is seriously underrated.

Also starring Cate Blanchett and Rose Byrne, this cast brought forward a mini-series that is, by far, worthy of some wins at the 72nd Emmy awards.

Was Missed: Normal People (2020)

Hulu released some incredible series in 2020, but the Emmys didn't really acknowledge what they had to offer. Normal People is a romance drama with Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal, and follows a couple in Ireland with very different backgrounds and loves.

This drama is unique, mesmerizing, and a perfect story for all young adults. Plus, it has done extremely well with critics everywhere. Unfortunately, that didn't include those on board with the Emmy awards.

Deserved The Win: Euphoria (2019 - )

euphoria

This HBO drama tackles so many issues, and while the dark series sticks out among the rest, so does Zendaya's performance. It's no wonder she took home Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Euphoria is a hidden gem - and all those who watch it can't get enough. All fans were more than pleased that it got some recognition at the Emmys.

Was Missed: Modern Love (2019 - )

modern love

It seems the romance category was snubbed when it comes to comedy, and that includes this Amazon Original. With Tina Fey, Anne Hathaway, Olivia Cooke, Julia Garner, Dev Patel, and more, it's hard to ignore this series.

Modern Love is based on a New York Times column that's all about love and relationships. Hilarious and pure, the Emmys certainly missed out on celebrating this one.
