Next week's Michael Crichton, ER began in 1994 and told the stories of the doctors who worked in the bustling, chaotic emergency room of Chicago County General Hospital. With an impressive 331 episodes under its belt, the series ran for 15 seasons in total, coming to an end in 2009. It's widely considered to be one of the best medical dramas of all time.
Over its sizable run, ER featured several notable actors. It's often credited as kicking off the career of one George Clooney, who starred in the first five seasons as hotshot pediatrics doctor Doug Ross. Like any major television show that has come to an end, there have been many questions of whether ER could ever get a revival of some kind. So far, there are no such plans to bring back the good doctors of County General, but several of the cast will be reuniting next week as part of the YouTube series Stars in the House.
Hosted by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley, Stars in the House has become the go-to spot for major cast reunions, and ER will be its next. Per Alex Kingston (Elizabeth Corday), Goran Visnjic (Luka Kovac), Paul McCrane (Robert Romano), Ming-Na Wen (Jing-Mei Chen), Laura Cerón (Chuny Marquez), Yvette Freeman (Haleh Adams), Conni Marie Brazelton (Connie Oligario), and CCH Pounder (Angela Hicks).
The reunion will feature a good number of ER's biggest names, though a few notable cast , like season 1 vets Eriq La Salle and Sherry Stringfield, are absent. Nevertheless, this promises to be an exciting event for fans of the series, who will have the opportunity to ask the cast questions. The occasion was coordinated by star Gloria Reuben (Jeanie Boulet), who will also participate in the event. The reunion will benefit Waterkeeper Alliance, a global nonprofit focused solely on clean water. Reuben said in a statement:
"I am absolutely thrilled to be reuniting with my ER family for a cause that is so close to my heart, and so grateful to Seth and James for allowing us to use their incredible platform to do so. I've been involved with Waterkeeper Alliance for 15 years, representing over 350 community-based Waterkeepers around the globe, and the work that they do is beyond comparison. We must continue to fight for clean water not just on Earth Day, but all year round!"
The past year has seen numerous high-profile cast reunions, though ER's will be a bit different than, say, Parks and Recreation's or The West Wing's. This won't see the stars return to their beloved roles, but will instead just be an opportunity for them to talk about their time on ER. For fans still holding out hope for a revival, this might not be what they expected, but it will still be a wonderful occasion to just sit back and listen to everyone as they reunite once more.
