Eternals 2 will face a couple of problems, mostly linked to the newest member of the team, Eternals, who turned out to be the oldest heroes in this connected universe. The Eternals are a group of synthetic beings created by the Celestial Arishem the Judge with the purpose of preparing planets for the birth of new Celestials, meaning that the Eternals are constantly going through memory wipes in order for them to be ready for new missions.

However, Arishem’s plan failed when the leader of the Eternals, Ajak (Salma Hayek), was killed by fellow Eternal Ikaris (Richard Madden) and still unconfirmed Eternals 2, which is tricky given his powers and comic book history, but a solution to it would be turning him into a villain.

Harry Styles MCU Nickname Eros Starfox

Starfox was created by Jim Starlin and made his first appearance in The Invincible Iron Man #55 in 1973. Starfox is the youngest son of A’lars and Sui-San, and he grew up on Saturn’s moon of Titan. Unlike his brother, Thanos, Starfox was a fun-loving, carefree womanizer, and years later, he fought alongside Titan’s survivors against Thanos. Like any other Eternal, Starfox has unique superpowers, and aside from enhanced strength, durability, and more, he can psionically stimulate the pleasure centers in people’s brains, thus being able to make them calm and open to suggestion through his persuasion skill. Starfox can also use this skill to make people become infatuated with him or other people or objects. While these powers can come in handy, they have also made Starfox a very controversial character with equally controversial storylines. At one point, he was put on trial for sexual assault, and it was throughout that storyline that many of his manipulations were revealed. Given the way Starfox’s powers have been used in the comics and how these can be misused, the MCU has a big challenge in its hands as Eros’ powers as they are could never work in this connected universe, and even if the writers take his sex powers away, Starfox still risks being a controversial character.

Why Eros Would Work Best As Eternals 2’s Villain

Jim Starlin himself has shared that he left Starfox “as a sociopath” and that “he is sort of a sexual predator”, itting that he has no idea what Marvel is going to do with him now that he’s part of the MCU. Even if Starfox doesn’t have his controversial sex powers in the MCU, his manipulation of people’s emotions is still a risky territory and could make it really hard for the audience to root for the character. The MCU, then, could turn Starfox into the villain of Eternals 2, and he could be a difficult opponent given his persuasion and manipulation skills. Of course, Starfox being a villain in the MCU doesn’t mean that Marvel should go into the darkest storylines of the character, as there are clear limits that shouldn’t be crossed, but it would be more fitting with his story in the comic books and would make it easier for Marvel to bring him into the MCU.

Will The MCU Adapt Eros' Powers As They Are?

Although the MCU has brought a variety of characters and storylines from Marvel Comics to the big screen, they have all gone through changes to better fit the MCU’s style – some have been subtle, others have been more noticeable and, in some cases, have been criticized by the audience. The Eternals themselves want through major changes, and not all their powers are the same as in the comics, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Starfox and his powers also change, and at this point, it’s even expected that they will. While the MCU has been more open to other types of stories that aren’t always entirely family-friendly, there are still limits to what it can address, and Starfox as he is in the comics goes way beyond these. Starfox will surely be a seductive character in the MCU, but his sex powers will most likely be left out and Marvel will find other, less controversial ways to keep the essence of his unique abilities – and even then, Starfox would be better off as a villain in Eternals 2, with the potential of becoming an ally of his fellow Eternals later on.
