Ethan Coen’s first solo directorial project has cast its lead. In the past, Coen has only co-directed films with his brother Joel, in a directing duo referred to widely as the Coen Brothers. Joel and Ethan Coen have directed a number of critically acclaimed works, including Raising Arizona, Fargo, and Inside Llewyn Davis.

Now, Ethan Coen’s solo film has cast its stars. According to Deadline, the film’s cast will be led by Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan. The plot, and by extension what characters the two will play, has not been confirmed, though it was previously reported that Coen's film would follow a lesbian road trip.

Qualley and Viswanathan are both rising stars, as they have begun to distinguish themselves in the industry but are not yet widely-known names. Qualley made a splash on the TV scene acting in The Leftovers and Maid, the latter of which earned her an Emmy nomination. She has also been in films such as Cannes’ Stars at Noon and the TIFF selection Sanctuary. Viswanathan’s prominent roles include Blockers and Bad Education. She also starred in the film The Broken Hearts Gallery and will feature in movie The Beanie Bubble.

Coen’s film is set to shoot this fall. The film was co-written by Coen and his wife Tricia Cooke. It is produced by Working Title and Focus Features, including producers Robert Graf, Tim Bevan, and Eric Fellner. As Coen breaks out into a solo directorial project, it will be interesting to see how much his style aligns or differs with the work viewers are used to seeing from him and his brother’s t efforts.
