HBO’s hit teen drama, Euphoria, has just begun airing episodes for its second season, which will finish airing at the end of February. And if anyone hasn’t had a chance to catch up on season 1, 10 plot points need revisiting in the show’s second season to properly move forward with the new season.

Whether it’s things left unsaid, or things that generally need some closure, these plot points are imperative to revisit before the new season wraps to finish the arcs that began in season 1.

Jules And Nate’s “Relationship”

Jules crying as Nate touches her face in Euphoria

One of the biggest questions that fans have after the end of season 1 concerns the relationship between Jules and Nate. After her stint away, Jules' feelings toward Nate remain ambiguous and vice versa. Of course, Nate has also threatened to leak Jules' nudes, which is hanging over her going forward.

So far, season 2 hasn't had them interact outside of a few glances at the New Year's party. However, Nate did randomly see visions of Jules while he was daydreaming about a romantic life with Cassie and those had to be there for a reason. Plus, the DVD of Jules's night with Nate's dad is still floating around out there.

Kat’s CamGirl Career

Barbie Ferriera as Kat Hernandez in Euphoria Close-Up

In season 1, perhaps one of the most perplexing things about the fact that all of these characters are in high school is Kat’s CamGirl career. There isn’t much resolution on it at the end of season 1, and she is, shockingly, never caught by her parents or found out by her friends and classmates.

The idea of Kat being exposed for being a CamGirl is something that could happen in season 2. However, this season hasn't seen Kat engage in anything relating to her cam career, instead focusing on her relationship with Ethan. It’s at least something that should be brought back up, but only time will tell for sure what’s in store for Kat’s career and if she will be exposed for her underage hobbies.

Nate’s Dad’s Interesting “Hobbies”

Nate’s dad, Cal Jacobs, is no doubt an awful person with terrible habits of having sex with underage teens and filming it without their consent. And with the threat of exposing him looming over Cal and Nate’s head, it’s only a matter of time before season 2 addresses these tapes and potentially exposes Cal for who he is.

Season 2 has put a major focus on this. Cal officially came out to his family and seems unhinged as he reminisces about the past. Still, the prospect of that footage getting out is a major one and no matter what happens in season 2 of Euphoria, this plot point needs revisiting.

Cassie’s Abortion & Relationship with McKay

Cassie and McKay in Euphoria looking at each other

One of the things from season 1 that is, quite frankly, glossed over is Cassie getting pregnant and McKay’s reaction to it. It helps lead to Cassie having an abortion in one of the most memorable scenes on the show so far. Season 2 has seen things get dark for Cassie, likely due to the fallout from this.

She became depressed and eventually hooked up with Nate, who she now has a toxic relationship with. She also seems officially done with McKay, especially since he hasn't been around much. It would certainly be interesting if other people found out about Cassie’s abortion because of McKay, and that could lead to his return while also getting Cassie to actually talk to someone about her issues.

Lexi’s Friendship With Rue

Lexi in Euphoria talking to Rue

From childhood, Lexi and Rue used to be best friends, but once Rue started abusing drugs, she began putting her friendship with Lexi on the back burner.

Lexi deserves more screen time and she has been getting it in season 2, though her friendship with Rue also deserves some rekindling. Whether it’s through a group or one on one, their connection in season 1 is too strong to ignore, and they most definitely need to focus more on it in season 2.

Rue’s Inability To Stay Sober

Euphoria Rue Zendaya

Season 1 heavily centered around Rue’s sobriety, and because she seemed to hit rock bottom in her special in-between season's special episode, season 2 needs to address why Rue really can’t stay sober for herself.

Of course, her dependency on Jules for her emotional well-being weighs on her ability to stay sober, but Rue should show some sort of growth outside of that. Season 2 has very much seen Rue at her worst so far. She is lasing out at people, saying hurtful things, and abusing drugs more than ever. She even finds herself in completely dangerous situations because of it. The resolution to this is a big reason to stick around until season 2 ends.

Gia's Interests In Drugs

Rue and Gia in bed in Euphoria

One thing that was too quickly glossed over in season 1  was the fact that Rue’s little sister is interested in doing drugs, despite being the person to find Rue overdosed and nearly dead. In the carnival episode, Rue finds her little sister smoking weed in the parking lot, it’s a shock for everyone watching that her sister would behave in such a way.

To this point in season 2, it seems like Gia has dropped her interest in drugs, likely due to seeing what they've done to Rue. However, given the emotional turmoil Gia has been put through, she could come back to them as a way to cope.

Jules’ Hormone Therapy Journey

Jules on the train in Euphoria

In the special Jules episode, some very serious themes surrounding her transgender identity came up. One of which was her contemplation of stopping hormone therapy and her relationship with femininity.

In general, Jules’ identity as transgender should be brought up more in season 2, or at the very least, the difficulties that Jules experiences because she is transgender. This would not only normalize and bring trans issues to the forefront of mainstream media, but it also provides character depth for Jules that she doesn’t necessarily get in season 1. Alas, her journey in season 2 has been more about her relationship with Rue than her own identity.

Fez’s House Being Raided By The Feds

Fez looks up at Nate in Euphoria

One of the last things that happen in season 1 is that Fez’s house is raided by the Feds because Nate called them on him after Fez threatened him. Although season 2 takes up where it left off in season 1, it’s only glossed over that the Feds never found anything because they got rid of the drugs in time.

The aspect of this that needs revisiting in season 2 of Euphoria is the fact that the Feds are now on to Fez, and it’s only a matter of time before they are caught for real this time.

Nate’s Sexuality

Nate and Jules in the Euphoria special

In season 1 of Euphoria, the plot point that most needs revisiting in season 2 is the status and personal journey of Nate’s sexuality. The way he treats Jules and the fact that he has pictures of naked men on his phone shows that he has some attraction to the male anatomy.

Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean he’s gay or even bisexual, because anatomy doesn’t equal gender, but it does mean that there’s something more there to explore for Nate’s character development that might allow some people in audiences at home to empathize with him. This is even more interesting to explore given Cal's arc so far this season.
