The System has long been a key mechanic in the Fire Emblem series, and in Fire Emblem Engage, that system with the player character is centered around gifts. reflects a bond between two characters: at higher ranks, they get bonuses in battle and can execute special moves. As usual for the franchise, there are several character units in Fire Emblem Engage across multiple classes, 35 in total, and they all have different likes and dislikes. There are several ways to obtain gifts: exploring Somniel and investigating any shiny lights the player finds on the ground. The second is to visit the Flea Market, introduced in Chapter 14, after every battle and buy whatever they have in stock. The final is to talk to everyone during the player character's birthday to receive a bunch of gifts. It should be noted that all these methods are random, and there is no consistent way to find specific items.
