After Electronic Arts gained the video game licensing rights to Star Wars in 2013, the video game company hasn’t slowed down the pace when it comes to pumping out games based in a galaxy far, far away. Between remakes of a classic franchise, role playing third-person adventures, and even Sims DLCs, EA has been hard at work when it comes to satisfying Star Wars fans.
However, most of the games have been riddled with issues, including tons of glitches and an overwhelming amount of in-game purchases that make it impossible to progress without buying them. It has led to a lot of frustration amongst fans and critics, which has made it an uphill battle when it comes to the games’ Metacritic scores.
Cancelled: Amy Hennig’s Untitled Star Wars Game
There have been a lot of video games that were cancelled for weird reasons, but this is one of those that hit the hardest. Amy Hennig is the genius behind the stories of the first three Uncharted Games.
There were even a few screenshots released of the third-person action game, which featured some incredible Tatooine landscapes and it was set to be EA’s answer to Uncharted. However, after the game was cancelled in 2017, Fallen Order went on to fill that void.
Cancelled: Battle Of The Sith Lords
One of the few great things about the prequel trilogy was Darth Maul. Though he didn’t really say anything in The Phantom Menace, and to know anything about him would require fans to search for canon material outside of the movies, Battle of the Sith Lords would have seen gamers playing as Maul himself.
Nothing sounds better than being able to wield Darth Maul’s dual-bladed lightsaber, but the game was unfortunately cancelled after Disney acquired Lucasfilm.
Cancelled: Star Wars 1313
Star Wars 1313 is one of the most interesting cancelled Star Wars projects that fans will unfortunately never get to see.
Just imagine if The Mandalorian was a video game, as Star Wars 1313 would have seen gamers playing as the coolest bounty hunter in the universe, Boba Fett. The plan was that the game would follow Boba Fett in his formative years, but the game was again unfortunately canned when Lucasfilm was taken over by Disney.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 (65)
Battlefront 2 was when gamers finally took a stand and refused to play into EA’s hands by buying in-game purchases. The 2017 game took in-game purchases to a whole new level and it was virtually impossible to progress through the game without buying loot boxes.
The game might have even bigger maps than its predecessor with incredible graphics and a sweeping score, but even critics who usually go easy on EA despite the monetization of the games couldn’t stomach the overt cash grab that the game was clearly meant to be, hence it being the lowest score of the lot.
Sims 4: Journey To Batuu (70)
With Journey To Batuu being a Sims 4 expansion pack, it sees EA doing what they do best, which is shoehorning their properties in to anything they can. But, the results are actually more positive than negative.
To seemingly tie in with the theme park, Galaxy’s Edge, Journey To Batuu features some brilliantly designed areas that are totally free for the player to explore, and there are more than enough faction quests to keep gamers busy. In fact, the able content was seen as the very best expansion pack to Sims 4.
Star Wars: Galaxy Of Heroes (70)
Galaxy of Heroes is the only mobile Star Wars game that EA has developed, and it was generally seen as a serviceable, if a little too routine, RPG game.
The game allowed players to collect characters, whether well known or otherwise, from the Star Wars universe and use them in a turn based strategy game. Though it’s free to play, there are options to pay to win, which is taken to new extremes with Galaxy of Heroes, even for EA.
Star Wars Battlefront (73)
Being a remake of one of the most beloved games of the PlayStation 2 era, game franchises that EA has ruined. The game was criticized for forcing players to grind through the game unless they paid for in-game purchases.
However, it’s still a decent game and it was praised for feeling like Star Wars more than anything, as the maps were huge and there were over 10 completely different areas to explore, even if its third-person shooter mechanics were underdeveloped.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (79)
Being set just after Revenge of the Sith, Fallen Order follows a Jedi, and the game combines all sorts of different styles of gameplay, from the combat inspired by Batman: Arkham Asylum to the exploration inspired by Tomb Raider.

Star Wars Squadrons (79)
Being the most recent release of the lot, Star Wars Squadrons is the first Star Wars game to make use of virtual reality, and it was a huge hit with the fans.
Though there were a lot of storylines that were never resolved, the flight mechanics are unlike any other and controlling star fighters from the cockpit makes players feel like more of a part of the Star Wars universe than any other EA game released up to this point.
Star Wars: The Old Republic (85)
The Old Republic is the ultimate Star Wars game, as it’s an MMO so big that it really feels like players are exploring the galaxy. The whole game is full of space battles, incredible graphics, and an engaging story to boot. Not only that, but it’s one of the very few Star Wars games where both critics and fans are in unison, as it’s one of the highest rated games by fans too. However, it still doesn’t reach the incredible heights of 2003’s Knights of the Old Republic.
