Kang the Conqueror is the Big Bad for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Multiverse Saga, and he looks set to feature prominently during Phases 5 and 6, beginning with Loki season 1. A Variant of a man named Nathaniel Richards, He Who Remains, warns the Asgardian god and Loki's Variant, Sylvie, that the Sacred Timeline and the Time Variance Authority (TVA) are necessary to stop his malevolent Variants, especially Kang, from pillaging the Multiverse. In killing He Who Remains, Sylvie resurrects the Multiverse and allows Kang to return and recommence the Multiverse War.

If Loki is the audience's first exposure to Jonathan Majors' charismatic performance as a Richards Variant, Quantumania will be their formal introduction to the Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which is set to release in 2025 and is the first of an Avengers double-header aiming to resolve the Multiverse Saga. However, given his importance as the Big Bad for the next two Phases, it is unlikely that Kang will be limited to just those two appearances. There are many shows and films he could feature in, especially given Kang's time-traveling and multiverse-spanning abilities.

Loki Season 2

Loki from the back staring at the TVA's Kang statue.

While still unconfirmed, perhaps Kang the Conqueror's most likely appearance will be in Loki season 2. Loki returns to the TVA after Sylvie kills He Who Remains. He finds that Kang has taken control of the TVA and by extension the multiverse. As Loki season 1 concludes, Kang has retrofitted the organization to his whims, including erecting a massive statue of himself to replace the statue of the Time-Keepers and creating new variants of TVA agents to suit his needs, as Mobius and Hunter B-15 don't recognize Loki upon his return from the Citadel.

While no significant plot details have yet been detailed by Marvel, it would make sense for Loki season 2 to feature Loki trying to undo the damage of destroying the Sacred Timeline and allowing Kang to return. Season 2 is scheduled for release in the summer of 2023, two years before The Kang Dynasty, so it is highly unlikely Loki will entirely succeed and defeat Kang. However, it might tie into the fallout from Ant-Man's villain run-in with Kang in Quantumania. Or, given Kang's almost omnipotent ability to traverse time and space, Kang's encounters with both Loki and Ant-Man might be just fleeting and trivial annoyances to his dominance.

The Marvels

Captain Marvel Ms Marvel Monica Rambeau

Kang might also appear in Ms. Marvel. The post-credit sting for Ms. Marvel's season finale sees Kamala Khan's bangle begin to mysteriously pulsate before Kamala disappears in a burst of energy and is replaced by her hero, Carol Danvers.

Kamala's bangles will be important in The Marvels and, although The Marvels has to break an MCU villain obsession, they still might tie the film to Kang. Not only can they conjure Captain Marvel out of nowhere, but they also connect to, and summon things from, different dimensions and timelines, as seen in the Clandestines arriving from the Noor Dimension. Kamala, even accidentally, might probe the multiverse or cause an Incursion between two universes through her bangles. As a result, Captain Marvel might not be the only MCU figure compelled to involve themselves in her antics. Such multiversal mischief might spark the interest of Kang too.

Shang-Chi 2

Shang-Chi & Kang in Ant-Man 3

Shang-Chi 2, the sequel to Ms. Marvel episode three, "Destined," the Clandestines discover the bangle in the ruins of a temple in British-occupied India. The Ten Rings insignia is clear around the temple, and the bangle is found on a blue-skinned corpse that looked strikingly like a Kree, the villainous and militaristic race from Captain Marvel. The scene hints that both the bangle and the 10 rings may be powerful Multiverse MacGuffins similar to the Infinity Stones in the MCU's Infinity Saga.

Another parallel between Shang-Chi and Ms. Marvel is that different realms feature prominently. In Shang-Chi's case, that is the realm of Ta-Lo. Given Kang's Quantum Realm can enter different dimensions and timelines, Kang might gain access to Shang-Chi's world of Ta-Lo and culminate in a confrontation with Shang-Chi. Shang-Chi 2 currently doesn't have a concrete release date in the Multiverse Saga. However, with two available release dates in Phase 6 before The Kang Dynasty's scheduled release, it is plausible that Shang-Chi 2 will fill one of those slots and continue to raise the stakes of the potential Multiverse War.

Secret Invasion

Skrull & He Who Remains

Skrulls have the perfect method to defeat Kang in The Kang Dynasty, as their shape-shifting abilities could undermine the power of Kang's operation by imitating his Variants. If the friendly Skrulls defeat the invading Skrull, they might become invaluable allies to Fury, the Avengers, and the other teams in their Multiverse Saga-wide mission to defeat Kang.

Fantastic Four

Reed Richards, Kang the Conqueror, and Ant-Man

As the final film release before The Kang Dynasty, the MCU's first Fantastic Four's Reed Richards, who might debut in Quantumania, in the What If...? Vol. 39 comic. The MCU could use that plot point as a personal hook that establishes the Fantastic Four in the MCU proper, by connecting them to the Kang arc without their arrival feeling jarring so late in the Multiverse Saga.

While not every Phase 5 and 6 TV show and film will focus on Kang or center around the Multiverse Saga, there will likely be a few surprise releases that will focus on the Multiverse Saga's Big Bad. Agatha: Coven Of Chaos

Wandavision Agatha Wanda Kang immortus

Not WandaVision laid the groundwork for the Multiverse Saga through Scarlet Witch beginning to discover the extent of her realm-shifting powers, Agatha's magical abilities, and that Agatha broke the fourth wall similarly to Wade Wilson, the show might center around the possibilities of the multiverse. This could include a Kang cameo. There are plenty of opportunities for Kang to appear before the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Multiverse Saga reaches its dramatic conclusion in 2025.
