WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for Bad Thoughts season 1.
Stand-up comedian and podcast host Tom Segura plays various characters in his first-ever Netflix scripted comedy series cast of Bad Thoughts also features appearances by Dan Stevens, Robert Iler, Arturo Castro, and Daniella Pineda, Segura stars in just about all of the various sketches shown throughout the first season. Bad Thoughts season 1 consists of six relatively short episodes, with each having a runtime between 17 and 22 minutes. Segura infuses dark comedy and satire in roughly a dozen sketches, giving Bad Thoughts the feel of a twisted Saturday Night Live episode.
Similar to HBO's docu-comedy series How to with John Wilson, each episode of Bad Thoughts is centered around a general concept or familiar theme. Episode 1, for example, centers on "Jobs", while episode 6, the Bad Thoughts season 1 finale, focuses on "Health." Fans of Segura know all too well his particular brand of black comedy, which is featured throughout Bad Thoughts season 1 in the form of various edgy jokes and scenarios. While Bad Thoughts season 1 is Segura's first scripted Netflix series, he has written and starred in five Netflix comedy specials including 2020's Ball Hog and 2018's Disgraceful.
10 Agent Six
A Sloppy Assassin
Segura's first character in Bad Thoughts season 1 is an apparent secret agent and assassin known only as Agent Six. In what seems to be a goof on the 2023 David Fincher Netflix film The Killer starring Michael Fassbender, this Bad Thoughts sketch starts out with a serious tone as Agent Six prepares for a long-distance killer with a silenced sniper rifle. With his target in sight, he fires but accidentally kills a waitress, sending people into a frenzy. After his target gets away, Agent Six has a gross incident that requires him to shed his pants as he tries to escape without breaking both of his rules, "No women, no children."
9 Massimo
A Nursing Home Worker
The second sketch of Bad Thoughts season 1 appears in episode 1, "Jobs," in an A24 movie spoof. Segura plays a nursing home worker named Massimo who has a magical way of connecting with the elderly residents. Stevens' Mr. Fletcher and the entire nursing staff are perplexed by Massimo's apparent gift to connect with the residents. They have no idea how he does it until the shocking truth comes out, which forces Mr. Fletcher to dismiss Massimo and ban him from the nursing home. After the elderly residents all protest, they cheer for him to come back. However, Massimo flees after one of the residents reveals she's pregnant.
8 Cyrus
An IT Guy Turned Tech Guru
Cyrus has one of the biggest character arcs in Bad Thoughts season 1, appearing in episodes 1, 2, and 6. He's introduced as an IT Guy who works at the same company as Iler's Evan. Evan is distracted by Cyrus during a meeting as he claims to be cleaning up the company's online server, but appears to be playing an NSFW virtual reality video game.
Later in the series, it's revealed that Cyrus was playing his own game, "Aliens F–k Humans," which becomes massively successful and earns him a fortune.
Later in the series, it's revealed that Cyrus was playing his own game, "Aliens F–k Humans," which becomes massively successful and earns him a fortune. When Evan confronts Cyrus ing his likeness in his VR game years later at his mansion, Cyrus gets revenge on Evan for not saving him a slice of cake at Cheryl's workplace birthday party all those years ago.
7 Steven Seagal
An Iconic Action Movie Hero
Segura does his best impression of former action movie star Steven Seagal in Bad Thoughts episode 2, "Success." Segura portrays Seagal on the set of a fictional movie called Maximum Kickage. Segura takes several jabs parodying the real-life Seagal and his poorly rated slate of 2010s action movies. Seagal hasn't appeared in a feature film since 2019 but he is best known for his roles in Above the Law, Under Siege, and On Deadly Ground.
6 Rex Henley
A Twisted Country Western Star
Bad Thoughts episode 2 also introduces Segura as Rex Henley, a country western superstar who holds his fans hostage to mine them for songwriting material. Fans will recognize Rex Henley as a spoof on real-life country singer Garth Brooks, whom Segura has expressed a particular fascination with on the Internet. With the help of Daniella Pineda's Shelly, one of the hostages, Rex realizes that he doesn't need to hold his fans captive to churn out good material. Instead, he decides he needs to live through real trauma and, as a result, tries to force Shelly to be his girlfriend.
5 Joe / Juju
A Desperate Lover In
Bad Thoughts episode 3, "Family," introduces Joe, an American who moved to Gordes, , to live with his girlfriend Genevieve. After getting unexpectedly dumped and called fat by a French waiter, Joe meets a friendly restaurant patron before encountering a French woman named Kati (played by Malin Barr). One thing leads to another, and Joe finds himself in Kati's bedroom. Kati calls Joe "Juju" and spontaneously tells him he can sleep with her if he sleeps with her sister, Brigitte, first. The black and white sketch continues into Bad Thoughts episode 4, "Love."
4 Brigitte
Kati's Sister
Segura becomes his own scene partner in Bad Thoughts season 1, episode 4, playing both Joe and Brigitte, Kati's sister, who is (literally) always on her back. In one of the most twisted parts of Bad Thoughts season 1, Joe and Brigitte sleep together in order for Joe to get with Kati.
3 Barry the Sandwich Guy
A Local TV Personality
Segura portrays a local TV celebrity named Barry the Sandwich Guy in a Bad Thoughts episode 4 sketch featuring comedian and podcast host Bobby Lee. Lee's character's wife is dying of a terminal illness and has a final wish to have sex with Barry the Sandwich Guy, who arrives at the hospital room with a freshly wrapped hoagie. Barry, however, proves by the end of the sketch that he's not open to taking requests.
2 Mr. Hale
A College Professor Turned Gym Rat
The final sketch of Bad Thoughts season 1 introduces Segura as a college professor named Mr. Hale. While Mr. Hale is intelligent, he's overlooked and disrespected by his students and other staff . He decides to turn his life around by ing Hardcore Gym, where Stevens' gym manager, Gary Crawford, greets him. Gary pushes Mr. Hale to drink a tiny green juice pre-workout shot that gives him certain biological enhancements. The more Mr. Hale hits the gym and drinks the juice, the bigger the enhancements become until they create a massive problem.
1 Tom Segura
A Horrified Parent, Plane enger, & Angry Customer
Segura plays a heightened version of himself in three sketches in Bad Thoughts season 1. The first arrives in Bad Thoughts season 1, episode 3, which features him and his real-life wife and podcast co-host, Christina P, as a married couple. The two attend a school assembly where their young son has apparently written a play with the help of Tom's fictional war veteran father, Wes, played by Rutherford Cravens. Tom and Christina discover that Wes had created an incredibly inappropriate live production.

In Bad Thoughts episode 4, Segura plays himself as a first-class airplane enger who is challenged about his past jokes against certain groups of people. He then volunteers to fly the plane after the pilot and co-pilot suddenly die in Bad Thoughts episode 5, "Communication." This leads to another confrontation with an air control employee named Jose, played by Arturo Castro, about Segura's past comedic material. Finally, in Bad Thoughts episode 6, Segura remorselessly kills three baristas at a coffee shop after they screw up his coffee order.
