Evil Dead's beginner Survivors to overcome, the Necromancer is currently the most powerful, as they're able to command powerful units that don't succumb as easily to melee attacks. Factor in possibly the strongest boss unit in Evil Ash, and it can feel as if the odds are stacked too heavily against Survivors once a round commences.

The Necromancer class in Evil Dead: The Game is inspired by the third film in the series, Army of Darkness, which saw protagonist Ash Williams forcibly travel back through time to wage war against the Deadites following the conclusion of Evil Dead 2. Its skeletal units also share a medieval theme, boasting weaponry, armor, and shields. Although Evil Dead: The Game's Warlord and Puppeteer units can also cause problems for survivors in large numbers, the fact that the Necromancer's weaken melee effectiveness presents a bigger obstacle. Ammo is scarce, and while high-level Hunters should be able to more effectively counter Necromancer units, they can be particularly difficult to deal with in both the early and latter stages of a given round.

The secret to success as a Survivor in Evil Dead: The Game is communication and cooperation, but, as with the Demon, it also helps to have played more and to have unlocked more skills. The more players play, the more points they'll have to put into each Evil Dead character and Demon's skill tree. Perks range from being able to start a round with a chainsaw as Ash from Ash vs Evil Dead, to having more health or being able to more easily seek out objectives. Evil Dead's Kandarian Demon, meanwhile, will be able to increase the effectiveness of their units, with the Necromancer able to reinforce their balance, further mitigating the effectiveness of Survivors' melee weapons by making it harder for enemies to be dismembered. The Flutist unit, which buffs the Necromancer's normal and advanced units, complicates matters further, while boss unit Evil Ash is able to both absorb and dish out mass amounts of damage. Bosses are meant to be difficult - and Henrietta from the Warlord and Eligos from Puppeteer can also be fearsome if underestimated - but Evil Ash seems to steamroll through teams with those additional buffs fairly easily.

Why Evil Dead: The Game Needs To Rebalance The Necromancer

Evil Dead The Game Necromancer Class

Evil Dead: The Game is still fun to play as both a Survivor and a Demon, but part of the fun of playing as the former is not knowing which kind of class the latter will pick. Developer Sabre Interactive has done a great job of not only ensuring the game captures the feel of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead movies, but also making each class feel distinct, with each match of Evil Dead varying depending on what kind of Demon the Survivors go up against. However, with the Necromancer the current clear winner, it's possible to play multiple rounds as a Survivor and not encounter matches against Warlords or Puppeteers. This can make matches more repetitive than they otherwise would be if more players were picking a variety of classes, as it lessens the effectiveness of the Warrior class and pigeonholes players into using firearms. Shooting gameplay in Evil Dead: The Game is fun, but its brutal melee combat is undoubtedly the highlight. It's perfectly fine for a class to lessen the effectiveness of melee, but in its current form, the Necromancer does that job far too well.
