Evil Star Katja Herbers Says The Kings Are Looking To Make More Seasons Of Their Hit Show
Katja Herbers took to X to clarify that Michelle and Robert King, the creators of Evil, are indeed trying to make more seasons of the Paramount+ series. This article previously stated that the creators were not actively trying to make more seasons.
Summary
- Mike Colter teases the series finale of Evil, confirming it will not end on a cliffhanger.
- However, he does say that the finale leaves the door open for a continuation.
- So far, Evil has not found another streaming home.
Evil star Mike Colter teases the series finale, though the actor known for playing David Acosta strikes an optimistic note about the show's future. With just one episode to go, the supernatural horror series is preparing to end a run that began in September 2019. However, although it has put a few pieces in place for the much-anticipated Evil series finale, the episodes leading up to it have very much continued to embrace a case-of-the-week formula.
In an interview with Decider to promote his new Netflix movie The Union, Colter pulled back the curtain on what to expect from the series finale of the Paramount+ Original. The actor, who is also known for his role as Luke Cage, said that the last episode of Evil does end in a fitting place. However, he also added that there will be an opening for more. Read the full quote below:
No, we won’t wrap everything up. There will always be more thread to leave unraveled, so there’s some place to go. What I can say about the end… I wouldn’t say a cliffhanger. There will be a new chapter that will be open. All we can say about it is, “I want to see where that goes.” I feel like we leave it in a place where there’s potential to continue on with the storyline. It’s a nice, interesting way to end it, but not end it. I think fans will be like, “That’s fitting. But now I really want to see where the rest of this continues to go.” It’s a perfect ending, I think, for where we are.
Could Evil Return After Season 4?
As it currently stands, Evil is likely to finish after season 4, though as noted above, the Kings are hoping to make two to three more seasons of the show. Where that may be is unclear as the Kings have other projects being developed for Paramount+, the streamer that chose not to continue the series. The Kings have not elaborated much on why the decision was made by Paramount to cancel Evil. Meanwhile, Paramount Global, the parent company of Paramount+, is undergoing a sale and a cost-cutting period that has led to job losses and several cancellations.
At least, according to Colter, the finale will manage to strike a satisfying tone for the viewers who have followed the story from the very beginning.
The cast of Evil, including Colter and Katja Herbers, who plays Kristen, have remained optimistic that the supernatural thriller could end up on a different platform. This is bolstered by the show's strong performance on various outlets, with the first three seasons streaming on Netflix. So far, though, that momentum hasn't led to anything official in of another platform expressing their interest in continuing with season 5.
While it's always possible that Evil could return for another installment, the current signs indicate that the series finale will be the last episode for the foreseeable future. At least, according to Colter, the finale will manage to strike a satisfying tone for the viewers who have followed the story from the very beginning. It sounds like it will be definitive and tie up several storylines while, nonetheless, gesturing to another chapter. This at least leaves the door open for the future, if there's ever a way to bring it back.
