  • Sister Andrea spinoff could explore her past, abilities, and continue the unique tone of Evil.
  • A spinoff focusing on Kristen's daughter and the dynamic with Sister Andrea could keep Evil alive.

Warning: this article contains spoilers for Evil season 4.It remains baffling that Paramount+ would cancel Evil. The supernatural show has high viewership, a strong critical response, and a large and active fan base. The Evil. But, Evil seems unlikely to find a savior on another streaming platform. However, the Evil series finale may also close the loop on the possibility of a continuation, making it a narrative challenge to return to the show.

Even so, there is one way that Evil could still go on, maintain its fan base, and faithfully do justice to the universe that Robert and Michelle King have created: a spinoff. Spinoff series' don't always work, and there's a long history of spinoffs that have miserably failed. But sometimes, a spinoff allows a show to explore different dimensions of the world and its characters. With the Kings at the helm, and the inclusion of one of the most popular characters of the last few seasons, then this could be the best way to save Evil from extinction.

Why A Sister Andrea Spinoff Makes Sense After Evil Season 4

A Spinoff Could Also Focus On Kristen's Daughter Becoming A Nun

It's still unclear how Evil will end, but it's likely that the show's finale will bring some surprise deaths. Even Sheryl (Christine Lahti) shared with David (Mike Colter) in season 4, episode 8 that she could soon be murdered. Just how apocalyptic the show will get, however, could harm its chances of being picked up on another network or platform without some major ret-conning required.

The best way forward is a spinoff that centers Sister Andrea (Andrea Martin). A spinoff that follows Sister Andrea as she investigates and fights demons in the shadows of a misogynistic church system would work from a narrative perspective, as the nun has already shown both her capability to (literally) sniff out demons and fight them. This would allow the show to keep its monster-of-the-week structure and tone, and hold onto the aspects of Evil that make it so unique.

Lynn has shown an interest in becoming a nun, so a spinoff could follow Lynn's journey, with Sister Andrea showing her how to navigate the world of the clergy and demons.

Sister Andrea has also been a wonderful spiritual guide for David and has given him strength, advice, and a positive direction in his life as a priest. This dynamic could continue in a spinoff, but instead of David, the show could make Kristen's daughter Lynn (Brooklyn Shuck) Sister Andrea's new and young protégé. Lynn has shown an interest in becoming a nun, so a spinoff could follow Lynn's journey, with Sister Andrea showing her how to navigate the world of the clergy and demons. With this approach, Lynn's mom, Kristen (Katja Herbers) could return in a cameo or a guest appearance.

A Sister Andrea Spinoff Could Explore The Nun’s Past

It Could Follow How She Came To The Church And Developed Her Abilities

Little is known about Sister Andrea's past, but it's clear that she's been through a lot to get to where she is. Another avenue for the Evil spinoff would be to explore the nun's past, much like the Young Sheldon spinoff has done, to great success. By exploring the nun's past, the show would expand the universe and give further context to the world of demons that Evil has set up.

Since Sister Andrea first appeared in Evil season 2, her visions and abilities have been clearly much stronger than anyone else. Through her discussions and advice to David, it's clear that a lot of dedication and perseverance was necessary for the nun to find and hone these gifts. Tracing Sister Andrea's history, how she became a nun, and how she discovered and nurtured these abilities would also give the spinoff a wide scope for exploration and provide no end of inner demons and physical demons she could fight.

Sister Andrea Has Been A Highlight Of Evil Seasons 3 & 4

The Nun Knows How To Fight Using The Unequal System To Her Advantage

Sister Andrea has been one of the best additions to the cast, and the expansion of her role in Evil seasons 3 and 4 has really allowed the show to open up different perspectives. The nun isn't quiet about the different treatment that nuns and women receive in the Church, but she knows how to use this misogynistic system to her advantage. She can work in the shadows while hunting those who hide there, and this nuanced approach, where the ideas of good and evil are not so binary, is one of the show's major strengths.

Sister Andrea has also shown she can fight, and she isn't afraid of fighting dirty. In a post-episode interview, the actress stated that she likes doing the stunts and killing the demons herself. This aspect is among the many ways that the show has a more authentic feel to it, and why a Sister Andrea spinoff would be the perfect expansion of the Evil universe.
