Whenever any good game, like Evil Within, comes along that a player has sunk their teeth into, it can be hard to decide what's next after the final title screen. Is replaying worth it? Are there other things that will bring back that same exhilaration? Luckily, for players of this game, there is much left that players can pursue both inside and outside of this game.
Replaying is an option. However, the market for psychological horror, survival horror, and many other versions of horror are quite full today. Plenty of other games draw from the same vein, and this is where players should look to continue their journey.
Things to Do After Completing The Evil Within
Completing to Completion
While players have already completed the game, there is a proper reason for someone to replay through the entirety of the game. This is to get all of the collectibles and trophies within the game. There are a total of 151 collectibles and locker keys along with 42 possible trophies. This could easily take three or more playthroughs to fully flesh out everyone. Which would take a considerable amount of hours of work.
Continuing the Series
However, players who aren't interested in the replay-ability of the game could instead continue their journey within the series. Yes, that's right, the game has a sequel called The Evil Within 2. This game continues pretty close to where the last one left off and answers several of the questions left in player's minds. It is another long-haul type of game with less clunky controls and spectacular graphics.
Playing Similar Psychological Horror Survival Games
If a player has enjoyed The Evil Within but wants something with a slightly different flavor, they are in luck. There are plenty of games that have a very similar vibe to them. The main ones include series such as Resident Evil Village and Re: Verse are coming out in early May.
More games that are more out there from the main franchises previously listed but still in the same ballpark include games like Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Amnesia: Rebirth, Dying Light one and two, Dead Space, and Alien: Isolation. Players looking for more story and less fighting heavy games but still within the same idea are also in luck. Games like the Dark Picture Anthology series would do well. For more zombies and ghouls their newest release Little Hope is a great option. Otherwise, for other creepy crawlies and interesting mythology check out Until Dawn and Man of Medan.
Evil Within is available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
