Idris Elba’s Extraction 2 release date, Netflix unexpectedly reveals that Hemsworth has some big-time assistance in his return as Tyler Rake, announcing that Luther star Elba makes an appearance in the film, while releasing a brief glimpse of Elba’s scene via Netflix/Twitter.

On their official site, Netflix says Elba plays the Man in the Suit, “a mysterious figure who kicks off the film’s plot by offering Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake an irresistible — and perhaps impossible — mission.”

Extraction 2 Gives Elba And Hemsworth A Fun MCU Reunion

Elba’s addition to Extraction 2 beefs up a cast that already includes original Extraction stars Golshifteh Farahani and Adam Bessa alongside new franchise additions Olga Kurylenko and Daniel Bernhardt. But perhaps more importantly, the addition of Elba also beefs up the movie’s MCU connections, reuniting the Heimdall actor with Thor star Hemsworth. The Extraction 2 MCU connections don’t end there though, as Kurylenko herself starred in the cinematic universe, appearing in Black Widow as Taskmaster. Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo is also connected to Extraction 2 as writer and producer.

It’s yet to be seen whether Elba will be a continued presence in Extraction 3 and beyond (if indeed more films are greenlit), but it would certainly be fun for him to team up with Hemsworth again in the future. The above clip at least teases the possibility of Elba being a sort of M figure to Hemsworth’s Rake, but it’s unknown whether this is an entertaining one-off appearance by the Luther star or the beginning of something ongoing. Extraction 2 may have some answers when it brings Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake and Elba’s Man in the Suit to Netflix.
