Ezra Bridger's Blue Lightsaber Honors His Master, Kanan Jarrus

The most apparent explanation for Ezra's new lightsaber being blue and not green is that it honors the late Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus. Ezra learned everything he knew about lightsabers from Kanan, and Huyang provided him with a hilt piece that had been saved for Kanan. It makes sense that Ezra would choose his master's lightsaber color as well, a tribute to the man who taught him to be a Jedi and inspired him to help others. It allowed for a touching scene where Huyang explained Kanan's lightsaber history and how it connects him and Ezra.

Ezra's blue lightsaber visually brings him full circle to his original blue lightsaber from the first two seasons of Star Wars Rebels. It was the first blade that Kanan helped Ezra build, but its unique design reflected who Ezra was then, and the green lightsaber was later introduced when a rift had formed between the two. Other Jedi In Star Wars Who Have Changed Lightsaber Color

Ezra is not the first Jedi in Star Wars to change lightsaber colors, with some doing so more than once.
