With Han Lue back in returning to The Fast Saga in F9. It's one of the biggest mysteries coming into the blockbuster, but in conjunction with that, there's also interest in delivering justice on what happened to Han.
Han's death played a big part in bringing Deckard into The Fast Saga; he hijacked the soft-spoken-always-eating member of the team as his revenge for what happened to his brother, Owen — the primary antagonist of the end of The Fate of the Furious, the older Shaw brother didn't only get a free for what happened to Han, he was also unofficially welcomed into the team. Even though Deckard was instrumental in saving Dom's secret son with Elena, many didn't like that there wasn't any mention of Han's car crash.
Speaking with ComicBook, Kang was asked what a potential face-to-face between Han and Deckard might look like. Of course, since there's unresolved conflict between them, the actor also talked about a possible revenge plan for the older Deckard trying to kill him in Tokyo. Instead of brute force, expect that Han will be more subtle in his ways. Explains Kang:
Well, I mean, all kidding aside, Han has lost his love and there's revenge from his side. He needs that. But the question is, how does a person or a man like Han enact his revenge? Is it by force or is it psychological? Is it emotional? What is it? I think that's what I'm looking for to is how is that face-off approached? Is it traditional?
Because I don't think one-on-one that he's going to take Deckard Shaw. I mean, Deckard Shaw is Jason Statham. He knows martial arts. Han doesn't. He knows no martial arts. I know for a fact, because Sung Kang knows no martial arts. If I know no martial arts, Han knows no martial arts. Han's a lover. He's not the fighter. So let's see, let's see.
Even before Hobbs & Shaw where he teamed up with Dwayne Johnson's Luke Hobbs. This also effectively separated them from the main line of movies, allowing them to carve their own path separate from what Dom and his crew are doing.
But, now that Han is alive and back with the family, there's reinvigorated interest in actually delivering justice for Han. F9 director Justin Lin previously revealed it's one of the main reasons why he returned to The Fast Saga. That being said, don't expect it will be accomplished in the film, simply because Deckard is not expected to appear in it in a major way. In any case, with Kang's return in F9, the actor is not opposed to Deckard properly getting redemption, but hopefully audiences will see some kind of confrontation between the two before that happens.
