The first look at Sam Wilson's suit as Captain America is revealed in the poster for Captain America: Civil War.
With Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) now retired in the MCU, the iconic shield has now been ed to Sam, effectively making him the next Captain America. Mackie revealed during San Diego Comic-Con that he already had his costume fitting as his superhero alter-ego, but the reveal of how his suit looks like has been held back until this weekend's D23 Expo. Now, fans can see a portion of his armor thanks to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's first poster.
Spotted by Twitter Sebastian Stan Updates at the Disney-exclusive convention is the one-sheet for the The Falcon and The Winter Soldier featuring its two leading men. In the poster, Bucky ditches his long locks, - reminiscent of his original look from the '40s, while Sam sports his suit as Captain America. Check out the image below:
While it's not front and center, fans can see that Sam's Captain America suit is similar to the one the character sported in the comic books, albeit with some tweaks. It's also different from the ones fans saw Roger sported throughout his 10-year appearance in the MCU. At this point, it's important to make sure that fans can easily distinguish this new version of the super soldier from the old one - a difficult task at hand considering how beloved Evans is in that role. On top of that, not everyone is convinced that Marvel Studios made the right move to hand Sam the shield instead of Bucky.
As Mackie said, however, the rumor that the show will center on the government not wanting him to be the next Captain America. Assuming that this will be the case, it's far more interesting to see his find his way to become worthy of the superhero mantle rather than him quickly fitting into the role.
